How soon do you start planning what to pack?

I'm going on an overnight trip next month and a weekend in April, and as soon as I decided to go I started making a mental list of what suitcase to carry and what to wear, and most importantly, whether I will need to buy anything! The actual reason for the trip is almost of secondary importance. ;-P

Do other people do this, too?

I've got a trip coming up in three months and have started planning. I don't usually think this far ahead, but it's to a different climate with several formal occasions.

When I'm going somewhere that doesn't require such a big change in my daily outfits, like to visit family, I'll only worry about what to pack the night before, lol.

I'm terrible for this and I know it's an areaI need to focus more on. I always end up with the wrong shoes on vacation. I'm going away next Saturday and probably won't start thinking about it until Thursday. And pack the night before.

We're going to Europe in the summer and I really need to put some though into my travel wardrobe. I usually spend so much more time planning what I need to bring for the three kids that I tend to forget about myself.

Wellll, DH and I are thinking about an anniversary trip to Paris this fall. And I'm already starting a list of what I want to pack...nine months in advance. :O

I like to start early in case I need to buy anything. I just ordered some shoes that I hope to take on my next trip for walking. It always begins and ends with footwear for me.

Sort if. I make a list of everything that needs ot be in the suitcase, particularly if it is something special. Like for a party or such. Otherwise, I don't start packing until a week or so before.

Only exception to this was our two week trip to Hawaii!

Yes, I think constantly about that. I am going away to Arizona in April and I occasionally think of outfits, capsules. My husband on the other hand, will throw 10 things in a case and be done with it.

We are going to Croatia at the end of April and I have definitely been thinking about what I will pack since we booked in November! I only ever take a carrion so I know it will be few clothes. I have a few ideas of what I will take, I will probably do the real planning in March.

I suppose I should clarify that I'm not actually very organized about it, I just fantasize about what to wear and then panic the night before because I realise that either something doesn't work, has a hole, or isn't clean, or that I don't have the right kind of shoes.

Ah, shoes. I have such trouble with them.
