How should a graphic t-shirt fit S/S18? ETA pics

This must be a silly question, but I am really not sure about the answer. I'm thinking of ordinary t-shirts with a print on the front and short sleeves. I'm not thinking of fits that are body-con or oversized, but something in between. Should they have more of a slim (classic?) or looser fit?

I was eying this sequin cherry t-shirt today, but could not decide between medium or small. Maybe a small would go better with skirts and a medium better with jeans or pants?

ETA: Here are the cherry tee with an a-line skirt and skinny jeans.

It really depends on your style. Lately, I’ve been finding a lot of slouchy graphic tees. I’ve seen people knot the hems of the tees for a better fit.

I think that tee can go well with jeans or pants... or even a skirt! You may just have to be mindful of the hemlines to make sure it looks balanced.

Frequent graphic tee wearer here. I think it completely depends on how you wish to wear it, and your comfort level. Some tees stretch more than others. I have some that I like to stretch out a bit as I put them on, because they tend to shrink up a bit in the laundry. I don't like them skin-tight these days -- I prefer a narrow and skimming but not tight fit.

Agreeing with Janet that body skimming but not tight. Based on my own experience, the looser one I have from BR veers towards sloppy.

Thank you, all! I really appreciate you responses. I like how you describe a good-for-you fit as narrow and skimming, but also a bit loose so that the graphic soft of flows well on the tee. I will have that in mind when I try on the cherry tee again. I'll see if I can take some pics.

I like my tees somewhere between tailored and fluid fit. Like any other shirt, I like a clean fit at the shoulder but skimming the torso rather than clinging. The hardest part about fitting tees and knits right now (for me) is that many of them are running quite long. I don't like tees to fall too far below my hips -- they end up kind of bunchy and unflattering (to my eye), especially over a jeans fly if the jeans are mid-to-high rise. It's not like I'm ever going to do a full-tuck with a t-shirt so what's with all the extra length? It seems like t-shirt lengths haven't quite caught up with the high-rise trend, because I've only seen a few so far that are boxy/cropped.

LaPed, I'm nodding along with all you said. This tee is actually cropped, but I'm petite and have a short waist. Cropped fit is usually like regular fit on me. I have had a few tees shortened at the hem with great success, though.

Looking at the pictures I like it with the jeans, but would prefer it to be a bit slimmer with the skirt. Might just be personal preference though.

ETA

I think it's because with the jeans we can see your legs. I have a few menswear graphic tees (mostly concert tees) that I like to wear from time to time, but always with skinny jeans.

I agree with @Astrid—the looser fit looks good with the jeans, but a closer fit would be better with the skirt. Whether you choose the Hanes Beefy-T square fit or a more shaped fit really depends on the total outfit.

I think I prefer the smaller size but can't say why as not sure why! They don't honestly look that different to me. Cute!

For me it’s important that the sleeves are short enough and the body is short enough that it requires no tucking and just sits flat and quiet. I find tees made by Pull & Bear to be perfect (but I’ve only seen this shop in Asia).
