How often do you post outfits?

How often do you post outfit photos, and what do you like to see in threads that you read?

I bring this up because the forum gets more and more busy, and I'm bummed that I can't keep up as well as I would like. I used to really like seeing posts with just one outfit photo because it kept threads simple and focused. Now I find myself wishing that outfit threads had a week's worth of outfits, so that I can more easily keep the context in mind - it's not as easy for me to remember the posts from the day before to compare the different outfits.

What do you think?

I like to post one outfit at a time because I will frequently go for weeks without taking any outfit photos. However if I didn't have to wear a work uniform and took daily photos, I would do a WIW post with four or five outfits.

I think that if you are looking for specific feedback on an outfit, it is best to just post that outfit and a list of questions for the forum members.

I used to post one or two at a time but like you, I've noticed it getting really busy and threads get lost in the shuffle in a few hours!
If I have specific questions, I'll still post one, but now I'm trying to do a whole week's worth if I don't have a particular issue with an outfit.
But . . . sometimes a whole week's worth, especially with detailed descriptions, gets to be too much as well. Sigh.
I think it would be fantastic if we could get the descriptions underneath each photo, kind of like a caption option, to keep the posts clearer and less cluttered.

I post one once in a while when I think I've worn something worth posting, or when I need specific help. I hope to post more when I lose the last 8 lbs and start working seriously on my wardrobe. I'll try to keep the "week's worth" in mind to make it easier for people.

Honestly, as a reader and commenter I find a whole week's worth to be a little overwhelming. My attention span isn't really long enough to do more than pick a favorite out of 7 or 8 looks at a time.

As a poster, I really like to post every day, but it has come to my attention that the forum finds that too much, so I try to do at least 2 outfits per post. "Try," being the operative word, I'm afraid, but I'm working on it.

ETA: If I were Queen of the Forest, outfit posts would be encouraged on a daily basis and no more than, say, 4 at a time unless you were posting a whole week's worth of vacation looks or something similar.

I like a week's worth of outfits, I like having the context.

I'll try to not post more than 7 pictures, hard for me!

I agree with Mary. A large amount~more than 10~ of photos with detailed descriptions often leave me a little overwhelmed, and harder to follow what outfit and what details etc. sometimes 10 or more photo's I just skip entirely...I am usually in a hurry when I am logged in.

I ususally post 1-3 photos...and don't add lots of text to mine.

3 is an easily digestible number for me to post.

I generally post once a week with 5 outfits. I try to put brief descriptions of the outfits first. Then list the items for those interested after. I try to break up the text so one can scroll past the outfit details if they are not interested. I'd prefer to put them under the photos to shorten the post but don't' know how to do that. I do add the outfit information because I find it helpful when others tell me where an item is from.

I really have no preference. I love daily posts with details. I like seeing the accessories and prints up close to get a better feel for the outfit. I also like weekly posts because they provide more context. I get a better feel for individual's style when I can see a series of WIW's.

I guess I'm just happy when people take the time to post photos. I find them so helpful and inspiring!

As a commenter, I like to see threads with 1-4 outfits so I can focus and give good feedback that is still concise; more than that and it's hard, especially if the poster has questions. As a poster, I can go either way. I've noticed that the more outfits in one thread the less specific feedback I'll get, probably due to what I experience as a commenter. So I try to keep it at 2-4 outfits.

I only post my off days, which averages 2-3 a week. I ignore threads with more than 4-5 pictures. If you don't have time to post that's fine, but I find catch-up posts overwhelming and tedious. I'm pretty terse, so I also don't like long winded posts.

I find more than 3 outfits difficult to remember, and also like posts with a single outfit.

So far I only post one outfit at a time because I am still figuring out how to put an outfit together AND how to photograph!

As an aside, I REALLY appreciate outfit details, like where things came from and the fabrication since I am a beginner.

I dont post my outfits that often, partially because I work Monday to Friday and have a work uniform and no-one wants to see that! Other reason is somtimes they are repeat oufits, or I've been dagging around the house, or havent had time.

I have limited time to read posts sometimes so I like things straight to the point and preferably no more than 4-5 pictures otherwise I dont feel like I am providing honest and thoughtful feedback to the poster.

Seldom. Only when I need feedback or want to show something new I bought.

I don't mind a large amount of pictures. With the new photo upload feature it's quite easy to quickly click through. Then I just comment on the outfits that stand out to me or just make a general comment on the full set of outfits. I don't feel obligate to comment on every one specifically.

I've only posted a few times and am working on posting more. When it comes to others posts, I too can be overwelmed by too many different outfits in one post. My personal preference is a max of 4.

I like small bite size chunks. 2 to 3 outfits works best for me. I like to see just one outfit too.

I find more than 5 quite overwhelming and will just pick out my favourites. I dont take photos all the time just because I am too busy in the morning and too tired when I get home..

I get overwhelmed when I see more than 1 or 2 outfits in one post - therefore, when I post (which varies from once every couple of weeks, to 3-4 times/wk) I only post one or two outfits at a time! As a reader, or commentator - I don't really have time or the attention span to peruse through multiple outfit pics and I don't feel like my input is really very good on those kinds of posts. I am much better about giving quality feedback to someone if they only post 1 or 2 at a time. I love seeing those that consistently post their WIWs on a daily basis - like MaryK. In fact - note to MaryK - I've been missing your daily posts and really wish you would go back to posting daily!)

A maximum of 5 for me with 2~3 being the easiest on the eye. I'm sorry to say if I open a thread with loads of pictures it's very overwhelming and I often move onto the next thread unless it's a lazy Sunday afternoon.

For myself I usually only post when I have a question or something new. If I post WIW's they are only outfits you've not seen before and that I'm really pleased with. I don't bother with the so so ones x

I do like having a few outfits for comparison, it helps my eye to see what's happening...sometimes I'll scroll back to a readers former wiws before I comment on a single outfit. But I'm also fine with a single outfit! Bottom line, I love seeing what other YLFers are wearing, and the feedback from others is SOOO informative for me.

And I am congnizant that Angie freely gives us her professional feedback and advice here, which is a trained skill that her clients pay for..., for which we are all VERY appreciative. THANK-YOU, ANGIE!!!

I have not posted in a while because I am very busy with the start of a new semester.
I have lots of things I hope I will post soon. I agree about lots of pictures and text- way too much time to be really helpful with comments. I like to post 1-3 outfits, with very little text unless it is inthe dressing section and I am trying to make a decision on something. I love one outfit posts- so easy to remember. More than a week- I admit- I usually do not look because of the time although as Maya said- it is easier with the new photo options.
I remember having to remember someone's password to get into photobucket. THANKS GREG!!!!

This is an intriguing set of responses! I like longer WIW posts, with more outfits, vs. the one-a-day ones. For me, I seem to have a harder time keeping up with the daily ones, and I like to be able to look a several days' worth of outfits. And I have no trouble looking at bunches of looks at one time--during the fall and spring designer shows, I will look at 10 runway shows (online), with 30-50 looks each, at one sitting :).

But I see that I might be in the minority! Perhaps 1-3 outfits per post are better or are better-received by the majority of posters.

I should rephrase my answer to say it's not so much the multiple pictures that get me as it is the long text ahead of them. I find I have to scroll up and down form the paragraphs of words to see which photo they are even talking about. So in that sense, only up to 3 or 4 is a good amount to take in. If it's mostly just pics and not detailed text, I think a week (5 to 7) is just as easy to digest and comment on.

To answer your first question- I haven't worked up the nerve to post at all. But I'm getting there...
What I think I've taken away from this discussion, is that when I do begin to post, I'll try to start with 2 or 3 outfits per message, but perhaps include a link at the bottom to a couple of previous WIWs for those who like the context of seeing several looks.
