How many times is too many into the dressing room? Banana Republic

I was at the BR outlet recently. I went into the dressing room three times, the first two with 6-7 items (within limit), the last with 1-2. I was in the store for a good hour or so.

The dressing room attendant was pretty rude, rolled her eyes and laughed in a snarky way and said something like "you again, really?". She wasn't trying to be funny, she was clearly annoyed. It was a busy day so I know she was frazzled, but it made me angry and embarrassed. Everything was neatly hung back on hangers and brought out when I was done. I was polite and said "hello" and "thank you" (except the last time, ha, showed her!).

I know her reaction was just plain rude, but I wondered if there was some unspoken rule I was breaking. Is there a limit to the number of times you should go into a staffed dressing room?

I don't think there's any rule, none that I'm aware of, anyway. Even if there was, that's no excuse for how she acted.

Kristine, I have gotten the eye-roll, but I just assume that I can go in there as many times as I need to check out their clothes. I am sincere in my trying of the clothes, it just takes me time (and again) haha. You keep doing your thing!

Wow, it's hard not to let something like that ruin what's supposed to be a fun shopping experience! We need encouragement, not snark!

If there is an unwritten rule about how many trips you should make to the dressing room, I'm sure it's way more than 3 times! You were a model customer. Maybe she was PMSing.

there is absolutely no rule regarding that!! the more times you go in, the more likely you are to buy something...

It's not you, it's her! What awful customer service! I used to work in retail at a higher-end women's store (Talbots) and I can't imagine ever treating a customer like that. Honestlly, if it had been me, I probably would have asked to speak to the manager and told her about the incident.

As often as it takes to feel that you have done the store. Don't worry about the sales assistant.

Always remember that wardrobe items are there for you - you are not there for them!

Eeesh, Kristine. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. You go into the dressing room as often as necessary until you find what you like, period.

That is so rude! You are there to spend money in their store and you obviously like the stuff enough to keep trying! She should have helped you instead of rolling her eyes.

It is amazing to me the lack of basic manners these days. Yikes! She should have been happy with you as a customer! Definetly say something to management.

So rude! Typically, when I have made multiple trips to the dressing store, the SAs offer to help and fetch sizes.

I agree about saying something to management. There IS a WRITTEN rule, to be courteous and polite to your customers!

Many years ago, I worked in a clothing store and I did the dressing rooms a lot. People would literally leave a pile of clothes on the floor that I would pick up and rehang or fold. That was part of my job. I LOVED people like you that were actually neat.

Your purchases pay her salary, and you can't be expected to buy ANYTHING until you've tried it and are comfortable with your choice. She is in the wrong job.

I am a serial dressing room guest- if they are going to have limits on how much you can take in, they should expect that. I have never had anyone be rude to me over this, but I often get jokes about how many times I go in and out. I've worked retail, so I understand how frustrating it can be, but manning the dressing is her job- and she should at the very least be polite.

Honestly I've never had good service at an outlet of any caliber. BR to Coach to Prada. The snootiest outlet I've ever been to is Woodbury Commons outside NYC. Yes major designer names but it's an outlet for goodness sakes, not the 5th Ave store.

If you were shopping a~ 3 limit only~ store you would be at Ross...BR...Really I thought you were more upscale than that:(

May want to spend your money elsewhere. I also notice the sales staff at our BR are always in a hurry and short with me... "really? um... you guys don't look very busy!!"

The first time salespeople are rude, I ignore it. If I can't figure out why (saw them being hassled by a customer, insane craziness at the store), the next time I call a manager. I really really get tired of being treated poorly by sales staff. I don't like to hear comments about how "fat" I am and I do not like to receive no service or bad service just because I came in wearing jeans and a t or look young. If it wasn't for the slim pickings in my town, there would be several upscale retailers that would never see my dollar again. It is wrong, but I do get a little bit of a boost from telling other customers about the other store in town that sells good running shoes after I have been treated poorly by the sales staff.

Sadly it sounds like the SA forgot why she was there:). To assist! Maybe shecwas having a bad day? Technically you buy, wages get paid...its a cycle. Anyway, I try to remember it's my conduct that matters so I just try to be polite and friendly regardless:)
