How many times do your boots get mended?

2 years ago I bought a lovely pair of brown riding boots. I got them reheeled last year and then again just now. In addition I got the zip mended. I suppose I have spent about $90 so far on repairs, about half the purchase price.

The rest of the boot seems fine.

How often do your get boots repaired before deciding to buy a new pair?

I am rather new to wearing boots for fashion, but if I have expensive beautiful boots in good shape otherwise, I'd have them mended for as long as I wanted to continue wearing them. It's also more "green" than replacing them often.

I have the heels replaced on my boots each new season which costs around £10.00, I have not had any zips mended yet.

I get the heels replaced on my boots once per year, minimum. That is usually not very expensive though, under 15$. In any case it's a heck of a lot cheaper than new shoes plus the pain and suffering of finding boots that work with my calves and height.

This post is making me smile because just this morning I dropped off a big basket of boots I had been saving to take to the boot repair man. He told me he was sure he could restore most of them. Prior to this morning I hadn't gone for a long time. I'm inspired by people who take better care of their boots.

(Firstly, hope this finds you well and maintaining sanity during the holidays!)

I've had my favourite pair of boots repaired twice in the past. The cost probably was close to 2/3 the cost of the boots. However, having thick calves and shorter leg, it is hard to find a boot that looks good and is comfy - so I considered it a worthwhile spend. That said, I am at the point where after two repairs I sent them to the great big boot heaven in the sky.
