How many of you rate replies to your posts? Just did all mine!

Hi everyone,

I admit I get a little slack rating responses to my forum posts, but I just went back through my old posts and rated the comments.

I think this is an important feature of YLF as it shows appreciation for people who do take time and effort to leave comments and feedback.

How many of you consistently rate posts? I often forget but will try to keep on top of it in future

Marley, I'm also new. Just read about the roles and levels. If you click on the little flower on blue icon below your picture on your comment, it would take you to a page that explains it. You can rate the replies on a thread you started, and that would give the commenter points which would earn him/her roles or levels (Just like you earned a Cheerleader role!) HTH

Hi Marley- when you've started a thread you can rate the replies in it for various qualities (solution, wisdom, boost, therapy, comedy, I think!).

Having your posts rated is the way that you earn badges (like the little flower under your avatar pic).

If you pop back into my thread about summer dresses you'll see that I rated your post

Oh wow - how fun! I just read about all of the different roles and badges. I had missed that page!
You know, I noticed that flower that appeared under my pic earlier today and I thought "Well how cute is that?" and I wondered what/how/why it was there! Now I know!

I do it when I read responses - it doesn't take much extra time, helps me keep track of what I've read, and insures I don't miss any comments!

I try to do it as I read responses, but admittedly sometimes I forget. I try to go back and catch up, but I don't always get to them.

Same here - I try to mark them as I read them, but sometimes I rush and end up going back days (or weeks) later and marking comments. . .

I like doing the marking/rating because I get overwhelmed trying to individually thank or acknowledge everyone's post (I feel repetitive and actually don't like writing in general!). With the marking/rating I can acknowledge the person and thank them by recognizing their contribution that way.

I admire when someone can individually comment on every comment made (does that make sense?), but I run out of steam and words. . .

I rate as much as possible, especially after hearing that I'm not the only one who cares about gathering little badges. (Was it Biscuitsmom who was lamenting having lost a few?) And, BTW, I appreciate all of you who have helped in my endeavor!

I haven't started many new threads yet but I've been trying to be conscientious about rating replies. You all are so helpful and deserve the ratings!

I didn't even realize this was a feature until recently. Until I updated my profile, I couldn't see the rating options under each poster's comments. Now that I have updated my profile, I "get" the whole rating thing!

Yes, Mae it was me! I LOVE my badges and am very grateful to everyone who helped me earn them! Ive been doing it since Maya told me how to give points- the print is so light I honestly didnt notice it till she told me where to look! Im very afraid I will be losing some/all of mine- since the site makeover I cannot stay on it very long, due to eyestrain bringing on migraines.....

Oh, biscuitsmom - It IS very bright/vivid! Have you tried turning down the brightness of your monitor, and/or changing contrast setting, etc. to help a bit?

I know they talked about periodically changing the background here, so it won't stay so bright forever, but still, in the meantime. . .

I noticed the brightness too, but I thought it was just because of my old eyes :-\

I'm pretty good about rating posts as I go along. I personally like having this easy, fun way to show appreciation. That said, I know this system isn't for everyone,a nd ono hard feelings if they choose not to hand out points!

Thanks, Tara, you reminded me that I forgot to do ratings on my posts after the vacation! Just did it now...
I usually try to rate them as I read them but somehow my vacation and getting-kids-to-universities madness completely wiped that out from my mind!

Ha - I will this weekend! It's on my mental to-do list. I use 2 different computers & one has an outdated browser (don't ask ) that apparently I can't do it with or see the pretty background on & that's the one I use most of the time. Sniff sniff. I know I could very easily download an updated browser, it's a company thing & I have to wait for other reasons - grrr! It's very annoying! I think it's a cool little feature though!

I usually rate posts when I read them. I like this feature because I like to let people know I appreciate their comments without responding individually to every one.

MnSara, yes, unfortunately we've tried that but when the brightness/contrast is down lower I cant make out the light grey print (like for point giving and the different selections at the top of the page) at all! aaagghhh!

I'm bad abd usually forget I used to be much more consistent but now I do the majority of my YLF-ing at work or on my phone so i just can't. I'll try to remember when I'm browsing at home though.
