I have 12 wired; 4 dark colors and 8 beige, and 3 wireless. Mostly Wacoal and Chantelle. I wear one, let it air overnight, and put it back in the drawer at the front, and pull a fresh one from the back. It is hard to find a style that ticks all of my fit and style boxes, so I tend to buy a style in multiple colors if I like it.

I live in a very humid climate, so I prefer not to rewear my bras before washing them - 7 bras will therefore last me a week. But since I like to wear colourful tops, I currently have 14 everyday bras (7 nude & 7 black ones). That might seem excessive, but I hang them up in a scarf rack to save space lol (instead of folded in drawers).

My bras usually last a fairly long time, because I'm not rewearing them between washes, but also because I tend to shun underwire styles for everyday casualwear. I suspect that underwire will need to be replaced sooner due to possible warping from repeated exposure to your body heat.

I have a lot, like Laura and Lucy. I stocked up on bras and underwear this spring when the pandemic hit, because I read about supply chains drying up for basics. Sure enough, my two favorite bras (one wireless style and one underwire) are both discontinued. My size is not easy to find and I’m not an easy fit (small ribcage and large cup size) so when I find something that works, I duplicate like crazy. Consequently, my bras last a long time — 2-3 years is not unusual at all — because I rotate. Plus I have different colors so I can wear light under light tops, even though I much prefer black and dark colors. My size is rarely available in fun colors so with the exception of two, and my sports bras, they’re mostly black or nude.

So I have about 6 underwire everyday bras, two wireless (and could use more because that’s what I’m wearing most now), and two bralette-ish styles (and could use one more of those too). I also have 6 sports bras because that generally gets me through a week of workouts when I’m exercising regularly like I should. I wash those after every wear and do laundry once a week.

I also have a small assortment of special occasion/lingerie type bras but rarely have use for them (strapless etc).

I have six everyday underwire bras, plus one okay one that I keep to wear on wash day while the “good ones” dry. I’ve had as few as four and been fine with that number. The okay one fits but it isn’t as comfortable or as supportive as the others - not bad, just not as good.

Wow, I’m way behind everyone else, it seems! Am I weird? I have two everyday bras (one nude, one black—one to wear, one to wash/rest) and 4 sports bras. The everyday bras last at least a year and the sports bras even longer.

Suddenly I feel self-conscious LOL.

5 - 2 pale pink, 2 black, 1 beige
2 - bralettes
3 - sports bras (compression style)

5 or 6 sports bras. Probably 8 everyday ones ( black and nude ) and a few “ nice “ ones I never wear . I have trouble finding what I want , but don’t like to get rid of one just because I don’t love it . Bras are the bane of my existence .

I have two regular nude T-shirt bras (Chantelle), two black sports bras (Lole), one push-up style bra (Chantelle) - I have no idea why-, several special occasion pretty bras that rarely get worn.
I need new bras, but I find them hard to buy during the pandemic. Like how do I do that?

Thank you, all, for weighing in!

After years of under buying it's my goal to simply have enough and knowing the range feels super-helpful.

I normally have about 5 in rotation, but I am really struggling, as some of mine are on their last legs. Normally I'd just order a duplicate, but I have lost 17 lb so far and will be losing more, so I know I need a smaller and size, and I'd like to invest in some bras with really great support. I considered Wacoal, but their sizing seems really, really off. Come to think of it, I think I need to ask about that in a separate thread!

Short answer...as many as you can afford. Guaranteed, if you have a real favorite it will be discontinued at some point and you'll wish you had more of them.

I think I would always want to have at least four good everyday bras. At present, I have six.
