In my (semi?) retired state, I have even more time than before to muse about clothes! So I spent at least an hour yesterday going over my data. I now have 15 years of data of what I have bought and edited out. Over half of that time (9 years) has been spent on YLF. I saw that pre-YLF I was often tiring of things within about 3 years. Post YLF it has increased to more like 7 years, I think this is a sign that I have been purchasing more mindfully and not “settling”, so I like the things better and don’t feel dissatisfied with them so quickly. Of course as I often keep things a long time, up to many decades, I have even older items like my fuchsia Thai silk blouse from 1988, and my Mondi knit from 1986. They are not worn as often though. I also notice Fabbers often describe items as “old”. For me they might need to be older than 5 years to describe as that if in good nick. The 4 pair sandals I trashed late last year had some newer than that but looked old because worn a lot and sandals can look shabby sooner. Interested in your thoughts?
