Do you guys think i look good in this dress? Its blue velvet with sequins

How does it feel? I don't think it looks too tight. The color is a bit hard to judge, so I'll defer to others on that.

Its not really tight and it has stretch. Its a bue velvet. I just wasn't sure if it looked enough like a prom dress.

I think it does look like a prom dress. Even more so with the right necklace, earrings and bracelet. I went prom dress shopping with my niece last spring and saw a wide variety of styles. Most were floor length, but some were shorter. The color looks good on you.

I think it looks like a prom dress. I went online to a place called Glitz, which sells prom dresses, and there were some form-fitting shorter dresses like this on the site. So I assume a dress like yours is OK for prom.

I'm not sure about jewelry, probably something simple or pearls? Instead of overpowering it with more sparkles. Probably black heels andmaybe black gloves. What do you guys think about hair? I have a big forehead so i don't usually wear it up so maybe just some curls?

Hee hee -- my prom was a hundred years ago, so I doubt anything I would say could help you out. I don't think anyone wore anything but floor-length in those days, but this looks appropriately festive. I really like the modern pattern of the sequins, and the dress is very flattering to your slimness and figure.

What will the temperature range be for your prom? Ours was at the end of May and velvet would have most likely been too heavy in my climate, but when you're young that sort of thing seems to matter less.

Ours is in April and its usually on the chilly or windy side.

Prom fashions tend to be highly regional/specific to your particular high school. Some proms lean towards full length gowns, others not. So I'd find out what others are wearing -- if you care about that! And it's totally okay if you do not!

I am mom to two college gals; they both chose cocktail dresses for their proms. They were one of the few to wear something other than full length gowns, but they did not care. That's not what they wanted. At their proms most girls wore pastel full length gowns; my oldest chose a dress similar to the shape of yours, in gray, with sequin bodice. My youngest chose a black knee length Marilyn-Monroe-ish dress with rhinestone neckline; she was the only gal at her prom wearing black. Both were happy with their choices.

And both girls got A LOT of use out of their prom gowns -- later in college!!!

So ask yourself ...

Do I want to fit in, or stand out?
Do I want a dress I can re-wear again?

If you go with this dress, I think the necklace you're wearing is quite sweet with it.
