I just cut mine into a short layered bob in advance of my new baby's arrival (and the postpartum shedding I will have for the next few months), but all summer I wore it up in a twist, using large, sturdy up-do pins. I think they are Goody brand, and are the size of a large bobby pin, but are U-shaped and not flexible like small bobby pins or small up-do pins. Or a cute bun with curls hanging out ... not a perfect slick bun, but not a messy bun just done up with a ponytail holder either. A real bun, coiled, but with curls hanging out if that makes sense. What about a low, loose ponytail with your curls loosely pulled back?
Do you have any layers? Some long layers (like no shorter than jaw or cheekbone or even just chin length) around your face would be a fun way to add loose curls around your face.
One disappointment I have with my new haircut is that the layers are too short and my curl pattern has kind of disappeared. I know she cut it shorter so the cut will last longer than normal since my baby is due any day, but next time I go in I will be expressing my need for longer layers to preserve curls. So I do advise not cutting too short of layers, especially if you've not ever had layers! I have done short layers before, so I knew this would happen and I'm not fretting about it. But I'd hate for you to cut bangs and end up with short little curls instead of long, loose ringlets around your face!
