I don't use it much (except by accident - I just pressed on my favourites list and there are all sorts of things I put there!) Maybe 10 posts all up intentionally put there that I wanted to refer back to later.

I click on people's names to see their posts, use the search facility and use the Mine tabe to keep an eye on my threads and my comments on other's threads

I use Favorites like a bookmark, or like a Pinterest pin. For outfits or items I want to look at again, most likely to try to emulate. From that standpoint, I've often wished there was a way to see all your favorites visually, like a pin board. I have a few pages of favorites, and it can be a bit tedious trying to remember exactly who posted that outfit I'm thinking of, or what the name of their post was.

Thanks very much for this awesome input. After digesting it we'll probably back with a few questions.

To answer a couple of the questions... there isn't currently a way to browse one user's photos. We'll think about adding that, but in the meantime the next best thing is probably to go to their posts, select the "what I wore" category and make sure the layout is in the "masonry" (grid) mode. Look for the layout button near the top of the right sidebar.

There isn't currently a way to favorite posts on the blog, but that is part of our thinking for these improvements.

Please keep the input coming. It is extremely helpful.

I use it often to bookmark threads that I want to save and look at later. P.S. your new profile pic is nice.

i don't use favorites, but i should. when i want to go back to a post, i use search. can i put in a request for an upgrade to search? it would be really nice if you could put in a time frame --ie search PPL for the last 6 months, or yesterday.

I've never used it; should do so! I second the motion for a search upgrade, though.

I've never used it, but I will now. Thanks for the info!

FlorenceFearne, there is actually a way to see your favorites visually. Go to your favorites page and then select the pinboard-like layout on the right hand side. That's the icon on the right under the word "layout" near the top of the right sidebar. Is this what you're looking for?

For everyone who mentioned wanting to use tags, could you give me some examples of the tags you would use? And how many of them you would probably use? Wild estimates are totally fine. I just want to get a sense of what you have in mind.

I use it to bookmark threads with outfits, items or ideas other members post that I want to be able to return to and look at again with ease.

I might use a tags like inspiration/copycat type of thing, or outfit idea or discussion. Others could be 'formula' or 'link' etc.

Hello Greg you hard-working, clever man.
I never use the favourites button. Now I have pinboards I pin outfits or blogposts I want to refer to. I have my own pin it button in bookmarks on my iPad; you were helpful in that as well, thank you.
For my own photos, yes, I discovered by accident that I can view them in masonry format.

I have used it mainly for quick access to posts I am tracking - usually when there is a challenge I am participating in.
It is helpful when there is a lot of activity that might bury a post. I find that searching does not filter by date and if I'm using a generic search item I can come up with much older posts than I had intended.

Hi Greg.
I use favourites mainly for threads I want to revisit later.
Things like Angie's Blog re. Season's trends that won't apply in Australia for another 6 months I just Bookmark on my own computer for future reference.
Tags called Inspiration, How To's, favourite outfits would be very helpful.
Thanks!

I use it to identify favorite outfits, best travel capsules, and the occasional "style philosophy" that really rings true to me. It's worked well for that purpose as I don't want to have too much to go through later.

I would like to have search results by date.

Thanks for your hard work!

I tried using it when it first came out, but found that it wasn't super-useful...I think the reason is because I try not to reply to old threads...so the favorite thing doesn't help once the thread gets old, and it's too much work, apparently, for me to keep things tidy.

I would love to be able to "like" a thread instead, and have that visible to the poster/other forum members. Sometimes I don't have time to reply, but I'd like to send a "+" to the poster letting them know I've read it and like it. Then, similar to facebook, I should be able to see the posts I've "liked".

I agree with Jenava. I would like to give a wave to a poster, so to speak, when I dont have time to compose a response. I read possibly three times as many posts as I respond to in writing yet every post is of value to me in some way.
I guess the problem with that would be the possibility of people sending superficial "waves" when they haven't actually read the post at all.

I've only recently starting using the feature. I have three favorites selected right now, and they are topics I want to return to. So my favorites are concepts, rather than outfits. Ideas I don't want to forget.
I've really wished there were a way to add blog entries as favorites. Maybe there is, and I'm missing it? Some topics I know I'd really like to go back to again, and I know I can search for them. But sometimes it's interesting to scroll through old "favorites" and see what I thought was interesting.
