Looking to revamp my storage solutions: how do you store purses, totes, and bags?

I don’t have a lot, but my three day bags hang on hooks on a bedroom door. They all have shoulder straps so it works. My clutches are in a drawer. I have about five.

I hang them on a coat rack near my front door. No coats are hung on the rack.

I'm actually looking for new solutions for this problem too.

In my old place, I used these hanging straps, either on the back of a door or on hooks inside the closet:

However, I don't think they'll work in my new closet, as the door folds out and so nothing can be hung on the back of it, and the closet itself is not deep enough to hang the straps on the back/sides. Currently I have the purses on shelves in the spare room closet but they're kind of falling all over the place and I don't like it. Most of my purses do not stand up by themselves, which is part of the problem.

Smaller and mid size bags go in a closet organizer like this one:

Larger totes sit on the shelf above my shoe storage.

I have dedicated shelving storage in my closet for bags. Right now, each bag gets it's own "slot." I never hang my bags.

Before being put away, I make sure the bag is clean. I stuff the bag with paper or plastic to keep its shape and then I place it in its assigned slot. I own a couple of dust bags that I do use. I find out-of-sight, out-of-mind. It seems the bags stored in dust bags are the least used in my wardrobe. Those at eye level are the most used.

Satchels and the like are stored on high shelves in my closet, and totes (which don’t stand well) are hanging on hooks in my closet.

Stuffed , with the better handbags in dust bags . I have large armoire with 3 shelves that store about 25. I also have a storage/ linen closet that store the additional .
I think the most important thing you can do for your better hand bags is to stuff them .

I have an amazing cabinet with posts that my bags hang on. Then below that I have a drawer for my clutches. It's fabulous. I copied it from Pinterest!

That’s very clever MsMary !
Do you find your handles get misshapen at all ? I always hesitate to hang my bags because I worry about that, perhaps needlessly.

I file them upright like books on a shelf for the larger bags. the clutches are in dust bags on their sides on another shelf. the longchamps pliages are stored folded in a large pliage, like Cronus who ate his babies.

Handbags and satchels are stuffed with pillow cases or twin sheets. (Thank you children for going to college, bringing home your dorm bedding and leaving it here when you moved out.) I was told that soft cotton was better to stuff bags with . I was advised against plastic. Bags are stored in their dust bags. And standing on the top shelves of my closets. Clutches are stored standing up in a basket on a lower level shelf in one of my closets. Everyday totes are stored on a closet shelf and on a peg board in our mud room.

I like your solution MsMary! All mine are in a bin on a shelf, same with my non boot shoes, and scarves. I had them all visible before but it seemed too cluttery and hodgepodge.

I store all my bags by lining them up side by side in large oversized baskets/bins. These bins are situated on the counter right next to the exit door to the garage in our laundry room. It is the last place I go before heading out for the day and I like choosing my bag last in the dressing process. I have a mirror on the wall in the laundry room, so I can take a quick glance and make sure the bag I chose works with my outfit. A few treasured bags are tucked into their dust bags.

I found roomy, sturdy, fabric lined bins at Container Store and put my bags in those on the high closet shelves. Almost all of them are in dust bags, all with stuffing. I keep a wristlet available for when I am REALLY traveling light. I hang my current bag on a knob in my bedroom. I tend to carry a bag for a few months, get bored and pack it away, and then carry another for a few more months. Seasonally, I guess. I could shed a few for sure, but they're all so pretty.

How don't I store bags, is a better question? Bear in mind that I have space limitations and ALSO many bags:

-I have some on one of those over the door things on my bedroom door. Mostly non-leather totes and backpacks.

-I have some smaller more casual ones ones on pegs in my bedroom

-I have shelves in my bedroom and closet with bags on them.

That said, I keep only a few bags in rotation at once. They stay on the knobs of my bureau drawers, which is a system I hate but I can't think of anything else to do with them.

I just got a bag out of storage today and noticed that the strap ends are bent and sticking out all crazy. You know, the excess strap length near the buckle? I HATE it when those bits get bent but it seems to happen no matter how carefully I wrap the straps when I put them away. Grrrr. I think hanging them all would be a better solution. Like a trophy wall!
