How do I wear this skirt

I bought this skirt last year..love, love, love it but haven't worn it because I'm not sure how to...It's a silk Ralph Lauren, I'm wearing a blouse with it, not sure if that works or not, and then with a jacket, it looks like too much black going on.....what do you think?

That’s a pretty skirt. It might need to be shortened. How do you feel about that? And a shorter, cheekier jacket up on top.

Angie-I'm not sure it's possible to shorten it, it is sort of a bubble hem, if that's what you call it, I'm not sure what type of jacket you mean, could I just wear a tighter fitting top since the skirt is more voluminous? Or should I just pack it away for now?

I agree that it's too much black with the black jacket, although the skirt is gorgeous. I think the hemline is difficult but possible to wear, especially if you wear it like you have with boots, and with a shorter, cropped, colorful jacket or cardigan. I think all tops need to be sleek with that much volume on the bottom.

I think that a fitted shape in a jacket--either cropped or hip-length--might work. A military-inspired look might be pleasantly edgy with the fluid drape of the skirt. I found this jacket at Macy's--it's black but has a lot of interest, between the seaming and the buttons--that might work:

Lex and garmenta thanks for your suggestions, I love all the jackets you suggest, garmenta, I, however look dreadful in cropped jackets or jackets with any detail at the shoulders, I'm broad shouldered and short waisted..maybe I should save the skirt summer and where it with a tank type top and belt...
