How do I accessorize this dress for a black tie event?

First of all, it's not really that dress, but it's an extremely similar ralph lauren dress that has a slightly less poofy "skirt", and a thin trim of tone-on-tone black beading around the shoulder and neck line. The beading isn't sparkly or patterned and barely registers from a distance. How should I accessorize it? Can you show me some specific ideas from common stores, because I really need to finish off this outfit right away. I'll be heading to the shops asap

My dress is ralph lauren's MUCH cheaper label btw. Of course I can't afford a $1000 dress lol. I wish.

fab dress! unfortunately i dont have time to link anything up for you, but i would suggest these possible items:

Jewelry:
no necklace b/c the beaded neckline is jewelry enough

chandelier earrings
or
a chunky bracelet (big pearls or a fabulous gold chain bracelet?)
or
chunky ring

Shoes:
a color that compliments the jewelry. red or metallic if you're going classic. maybe pink, yellow, or green to make it a little funky.

i'd prefer a peeptoe but round-toe would work too.

Wrap or gloves:
perhaps for a little more warmth/coverage? i love love love the short black gloves in the photo. would you be game for that? it would look so so chic, especially with a chunky ring on one finger!

Anyway, that dress is gorgeous. I wouldn't wear a necklace since it has beading. Even though the beading is sublte. I agree with Shell about maybe chandelier earings. I might opt for long gloves in place of a bracelet though. That would make the dress VERY formal. Maybe a ring or bracelt over the glove?

I would wear a less chunky shoe than the one you posted. How about something metallic? A strappy evening sandal perhaps? With a matching clutch--or a beaded clutch? I would also wear a wrap. If you do add silver, or another color to the dress--only use that color in two other items. Like silver shoes and silver gloves, black wrap and beaded clutch. Or silver shoes and silver clutch, with black gloves and black on black patterned wrap. If you have 4 silver accessories, you will lose the efortlessness of the outfit.

If the beading at the top is very subtle, you might be able to try a super chunky pearl choker. That said, the dressy earrings are a nice idea. Maybe something like this:

and perhaps a red or hot pink clutch.
WHBM has an oversize red patent clutch that is very nice; but it's not on the web site.

I think I'm going to do a shoe very much like the one I posted, but with a pointy toe. I love platforms. I can't wear chandelier earrings because I have a mid length bob, and I can't really wear it up. That means I'll have to wear some sort of statement bracelet. Too bad my wrists are too small for cuffs and bangles. A grey python clutch sounds like a great idea. I'm still trying to decide if short satin gloves are a little too much for this event, but they look gorgeous. Thanks for the ideas
