How are rain boots supposed to fit?

I just received these from Amazon. I ordered W because I thought it would help with "easy wearing". They are a little bit big and my heel pulls up a little. But is this how they are supposed to fit? I'm wearing thick socks with them.

Also these Kamik's have a pretty wide calf, so I'm wondering if they'll let in too much rain that way?

I'm also thinking of going to Costco to try the Hunter boots they have in stock there.

I've never worn rainboots, but think they could definitely be useful since the only winter we get is rain.

Do you have a photo of how they fit? I have been looking at Kamiks online for two weeks now, but according to the measurements on almost all of them, I need the wides. And the reviews for most say they calves fit extra small.

I have yet to try a Kamik pair in person, but I'll tell you that with 15 1/2 inch calves, I had to fight to get off the last pair of regular tall Hunters that I tried on. They were skin tight and had suction like you would not believe. According to my cheat sheet (don't laugh...), The Hunters are 15 inches cir. at 16 inches shaft height, where those Ellies are 16 wide at 12 inches tall. I havent found any Kamiks between 15 and 16 circumference though. I'd rather have them loose than the way the Hunters felt.

I've never attached pictures here. How does everyone normally do it?

The Kamik's aren't knee high - they are more mid calf. They aren't tight on the calf AT ALL. I ran over to Costco and tried on the knee high glossy hunters. They were fairly nice. What's better? Kamik or Hunter? Knee high or mid calf?

I hate wet legs, so I'd do Knee high -- water on my calves + wet pants legs are my two greatest peeves in life!

That's a good point about not getting wet legs. Well stupid costco didn't have my size in black (only grey, which I didn't like!)

I hope I can find them in my size/color combination. They have them online, but the online versions aren't glossy whereas the ones in store WERE glossy, and I definitely like the glossy better
