In trying to come up with my five adjectives for Angie's blog post today, I actually found it easier to find words for what my style *isn't* than for what it is. I would say my style is not:

Bohemian
Colorful
Glitzy
Sporty
Faddish

Earthy-I'm not a fan of earth tones on me.
Warm-Also not a fan of warm based color for me.
Sexy-At least not in the sense of showing lots of skin.

Basic-Stuck on the right word for not layered, I am always in layers

Earlier, I couldn't think of the right word to capture the kind of cheap, flagrantly tarty look that I avoid, but then it came to me: hoochie.

Great thread, April. This was how my brain was working, too. Process of elimination is easier as I'm trying to figure out my statement.

My preferred style is not casual, plain/basic, masculine, muted, delicate.

Hmm... Why is this so much easier than actually defining what my style is??
My "style" (well, the little that I have) is definitely not categorized under: “girly”, “sexy”, “classic”, “stiff”, “neutral”.

Suzanne, I think it's because it's easier to nail down what doesn't suit us than to find the right word to describe what does. When I say my style is "not boho," it still leaves open a world of possibilities for a single word that describes what it *is*.

For example, "not boho" could include minimalist, androgynous, formal, preppy, hoochie, ladylike, vintage, and a world of others.

April, your style icon Taylor has a strong classic side to her style. I think we should exchange the current with the classic in your list of style descriptors. It's a given that your look is current

There are a lot of things I like and will wear now and again even though I wouldn't describe it as my core style, so this one is difficult! I can only think of three:

Bohemian, goth, laid back.
