Hosting a Mardi Gras party at my work - what to wear?

I am debating whether to go in purple, green, gold themed clothing or just wear a festive outfit. In the past I have done both.

I could do the berry dress over olive skinnies, or even green tights??
Or a green dress over my purple cabled tights?
Or a green top with my winter wine cardi over? maybe even with my wine skinny cords?
I have plenty of gold beads to cover that color

I have a medal from a New Orleans half marathon that is the ultimate in beads - can't wait to wear it! Wonder if the cabled dress with the cabled tights wouldn't be overkill . . .

I guess it depends on how far you want to go with the theme. I can't imagine wearing a cable sweater dress indoors myself (too hot for me) but if it's cool enough for you it does look great! The first dress would be maybe more in the theme of things - esp. with the gold beads and green tights or skinnies. Can you add a belt to the berry dress?

I vote #1 all the way! I think it is the most festive in both color and shape. Could go either way with the green tights - I guess it depends how far you want to go! Sounds like a really fun event.

I am thinking #1 too! I didn't get a call back from my friend about the tights, so it might be my calmer greyish green non cargo skinnies. I do have purple suede slingbacks and a purple top hat though, so I'm not sure how subdued that would be in the end anyway. Ha!

l like # 1 and then 3. Happy colors and Mardi Gras colors are good, but I would not sacrifice nice proportions just to work in all 3 colors. It's the Mardi Gras attitude that counts!

Well, a friend bought us really great masks, so this is the final result. Was a great time!!
