Well, the "hooker" boots have arrived, but they are not for me. They don't fit right, they rub on my ankle bone, and so they have to go back. But I thought I'd post the photos for some humor, and also to illustrate an illuminating discovery...

I like myself in boots!

A bit of backstory: a friend runs a thrift store that carries used children's clothing. She got a huge donation of women's shoes and boots from an online shoe store, and obviously she can't use them in her thrift store.

Now this friend doesn't know me well enough to know of my deep devotion for all things shoe and boot, and so we can perhaps forgive her for not calling me immediately to invite me to paw through this huge haul of footwear. In fact, she gave them all away to other friends and relatives. She saved several pairs for her daughter, who was coming home from college for Christmas, including one humble, unassuming little pair of cobalt, over-the-knee, faux-suede boots.

When my friend saw me sporting a similarly colored blue faux-suede bag, she cried out, "The hooker boots! They would go great with that bag!" Well, needless to say, I wasted no time in hightailing it to her house to try them on. They don't fit, so back to the friend's daughter they will go.

Now, to my photos: let's just say that this makes me feel very elfin, like Legolas, and in fact, I like the look! I thought my thighs would overpower such a silhouette, but I was pleased to note they don't. At least not to me, but I welcome your comments.

My takeaway - I can buy some knee-high boots and jeggings and officially join the boot party, even if I am the latest one to arrive! I have shied away till now because I have such short, curvy legs, I thought I couldn't pull off the look. Now I feel like a doofus for waiting so long. This is a big deal for me, a perk to my body image.

The moral of this anticlimactic and lengthy tale is that you owe it to yourself to look outside your comfort zone, yea, even unto the ends of Middle Earth. For you may find treasure in the most unlikely places! Thanks for reading!
