I usually do a LBD or a (now ancient) red dress, but during my shopping trip last weekend ended up with something completely different.
Lauren, I remember when you let your SO pick out something for you to wear, so I asked my DH to play along with this game (I had just helped him replenish his wardrobe--3 pairs trousers, 6 shirts, 2 pairs, shoes, etc.)
Well, DH really liked a pair of silky trousers a SA at Holt Renfrew was wearing. (She was actually a personal shopper helping a client!). This is a look I never would have tried, but I found a pair of Vince silk trousers in Teal that had been worn in a fashion show, marked down from $300.+ to $38.00! I will wear them with a burnt out velvet top I already own, and my new pointy toe black pumps. I'll be on the lookout for a pair of strappy sandals as well. I can see myself wearing this out or at home, and later it will go on vacation as resort PM look.
So, long story over...thanks for the inspiration to think outside the box and involve DH. I guess I should add, DH really likes the outfit!
