Holiday Outfit Advice

So, after thinking it through, maybe I should take one of Angie's ideas for my holiday work ensemble. I want to make it rewearable and warm, so seperates.

I was thinking my black cashmere v-neck ( identical to this). http://www.talbots.com/online/.....8;catId=ca

Black sheer nylons.

And I love these shoes Anna recommended, but they are sold out in my size and one size up. I am on their "wait list". But I would need shoes as I have nothing really appropriate for an event this dressy. I have found almost nothing half this cool. I think the skirt looks pretty classic, and the sweater and cool shoes would be both elegant and modern. But I am not sure of your ouftit goals--are you thinking the dress looks too everyday? The burgundy would be festive and a good color. A black sweater and skirt even if lace, with loafers, is not necessarily more festive or dressy.

What's your kind of inspiration outfit or look you would be going for if it could be both achievable and practical (wearable for other things)?

I bought this lace skirt in brown and I LOVE it! The lace is a nice heavy quality, and the lining has a bit of stretch so that it's very comfortable. I see it as a four season piece - it looks good with sandals, flats, boots ( knee or ankle ) and sparkly evening shoes. I've worn it already with a cashmere sweater and riding boots, and I have another similar outfit planned with the same sweater, a sparkly necklace and metallic copper pumps.
I think it would be a great option for a company dinner. It might look a little dressier with a black jacket and a sparkly shell or necklace, but you know the company culture, so follow your own instincts.

I am so loving the sound of this outfit I can't stand it.

Lace pencil skirts are modern classics and a good investment as a component of a party separates capsule. No need to worry about it dating.

Oh my heavens! This is fabulous! You are right about Anna and shoes, of course. And the whole outfit would be brilliant.

Did you see the shoes that Carter wore today? There were a pair of brocade ones that might work for you if the Anna shoes can't be had: http://www.jjill.com/jjillonli.....&sk=A

There are also a black pair with bling on them there. I know nothing about the quality or fit, but maybe Carter can vouch. I do love the Anna ones, but it would be good to have a backup.

If your party is not until December, it sounds like you could order some things and if they fit great, you've got a new look, and if they're not fab, you have some backup options. That can be a great way to use the party as a reason to try to build your special- occasion wear, but not be in panic mode.

I don't think I would pair this skirt with this (albeit very pretty) loafer unless you are very tall and lean. This skirt needs a heel. I like each of the parts but not put together.
