Holiday monochromy

I’ve been enjoying the ways similar colors are being paired together in recent years, whether it’s pink-orange-red, multiple blues, pink & burgundy or other similar combos. I hope you recognize what I mean.

Classic holiday looks seem to me to be all about complementary colors or stark difference: red and green, deep blue with silver, red with white trim.

Thinking about end-of-year looks, I’d like to come up with outfits in festive color combos from one side of the color wheel, but I’m coming up completely dry.

What monochrom-ish holiday looks have you seen recently, please & thank you.

Shades of red- burgundy and blush, red and pink, etc. I’ve also seen black with gold lame where the gold was sheer with a black lining, which was nice.

My last holiday party outfit (2019, a lifetime ago!) was in a berry palette, if you can believe it. Striped dress and glitter mary-janes below, plus semi-opaque tights in eggplant.

If I were going to go all-out on a holiday outfit, I think it would be a velvet tux in forest green or midnight blue. Love this AllSaints version with the dark lace underneath the velvet jacket (though I'd want the top underneath to be cut a bit higher--brrr!).

Dark green like in kkards example was my first thought. Maybe for you, something leaning blue-green if green green isn’t your thing.

I think of “holiday” more in terms of fabrics, textures and embellishments - and some of the examples above show it. Satin, velvet, sequins, metallics.

Like the fourth of July, i like non traditional shades of traditional colors. I do a lime or apple green with a red-orange for the holidays although traditional colors are fine with me on others. The holidays have become more casual. So I am more apt to wear a dressy red or green sweater with jeans or an all white look with white pants.
