I put this one under shopping, because that is how I had to treat this morning's exercise in editing. I started with the closet, and there was quite the pile of stuff to go, actually several piles, and they grew rapidly. I had to think about each garment as if I were considering whether to buy it right now. I did give myself some latitude for the stuff I wasn't sure about, because it's the coronapocalypse and there's nowhere to go to wear the things I'm unsure of. Those items are not being pictured or discussed at this time; I'll deal with those at some point in the future.
Several garments went into a bag to go to a friend's yard sale, because they weren't anything special, or had some tiny flaw that would get them rejected by a consignment shop. A few winter garments went into that bag, also, because the consignment shop is only taking spring/summer items right now and I'm not sitting on bulky garments til fall when I currently live in an RV with no storage to speak of.
Some garments WILL be going to the consignment shop. They aren't anything special, mostly mass market brands, pieces I don't love and that are causing me to split wears with something similar that I DO love. Maybe I'll get a few bucks out of them.
There are 3 garments I'm on the fence about:
1. Shelly Segal Laundry sweatshirt dress. It's very bodycon, and looks good on me, and I even have outfit ideas in mind for it. But it's white. I generally can't keep whites white. I like it in theory, but fear the reality of what I do to light colored garments.
2. Hudson Sartor jeans. I like these ok, but they're starting to get a little loose on me. I LOVE the length; I have a 33" inseam and these jeans have a decent stack when I wear them over my cowgirl boots. They're definitely long enough to wear with my highest heels. They're certainly worth tailoring, but do I wear straight legs often enough to justify letting them take up space in my minuscule clothes storage?
3. Citizens of Humanity flare jeans. I don't do flares very often at all. Like, less than I do straight legs, if I'm honest. Also, they're a 29, and a COH 29 is smaller than an AG 29, so I may or may not ever get into them. Leaning towards passing these on.
Next up: definitely passing on to someone else
4. JCrew Factory skinny Jean's. Size 30, fit like my Hudson 32. Supposed to be a skinny, but fit more like boyfriend. Can't keep them up around my waist, they keep sliding down to reveal my plumber's crack.
5. Splendid one shoulder top. I love the top, but refuse to buy one of those convertible bras so I can wear it.
6. Pleather biker jacket, Romeo & Juliet Couture. I love the jacket, but I discovered 2 leather jackets I forgot I owned plus I have a Shelly Segal Laundry leather biker jacket with the knit panels in the sleeves that I love.
7. Another pleather piece from Romeo & Juliet Couture. Laser cut out tank top with knit back. I like it a lot, but pleather in Texas in summer. Hard pass.
8. Hudson wide leg jeans. Size 32, slightly loose. I have an identical pair in size 31 that don't require a belt, so these can go.
There are 3 garments left in my holding zone at the moment, and they are staying. Celine cardigan in.purple, and I have already forgotten what the other 2 are LOL.
For the garments pictured that are definitely going bye-bye, I'll probably send them to the consignment shop. If any of you want any of them, PM me and I'll send you whatever you want if you just cover shipping.
Thanks for reading, and any comments you have to share.
