I'm not getting the jacket after all the fit and colour were perfect and I do need more cropped toppers that go over my dresses. But his jacket costs 40 euros here, as opposed to $20 in the US! I cannot justify paying so much for a faux suede jacket from H&M so not getting it!

What a shame, but I hear you. The same H&M floral pants some of the girls have were 15.00 USD but the same pants here were 60AUD!

That's too bad, but I understand you. I think H&M quality isn't what it used to be (at least over here) and I would hesitate to get one of their pricier items for that reason alone.

This jacket is worth $20 and no more than that, so I think you made the right decision, but I am sorry! Why the price difference?

Una, 40€ is a standard price for many of their jackets over here.

That price difference happens in Canada as well! Do international companies such as Zara and H&M deliberately keep the price point lower in the States than in other countries to remain competitive?

Thanks guys! I'm feeling like I made the right choice $20 would be just 15 euros or so, which makes it a 25 euro price hike!!! God!!! I have bought other things at the same price as the US though, like my cropped denim jacket.

the 15E would be about 18E with VAT, since the price in the us is pre-sales tax. the import duty structure may also be different leading to a higher price.

price should be anchored to relative spending power like the mcdonalds big mac index in the economist!

hey, perhaps the brilliant minds on ylf can solve this economic issue!
