I've been looking for a cropped blazer for a while now and tried one on at H&M today that I liked.

I think it fits well in the shoulders and the sleeves aren't too long/wide, both of which are probs with me. Does it look a little big in the torso?

Hubby thinks it looks too tight buttoned up. Does it really? It didn't feel constricting but it does look a little strained, I guess.

What do I do? To buy or not to buy?

it does seem to be pulling a tad bit when buttoned. Can you go up one size?

teri; the size up is ridiculously loose in my shoulders and torso, which is why I didn't even bother taking a picture! Sigh! Blazers are so problematic

I think it looks great unbuttoned. I rarely button my jackets.

If you prefer to wear blazers buttoned, then I would pass this one up. Being able to button up gives you a little more versatility and wear.

If you intend on wearing it unbuttoned, it's fabulous. If you want to be able to button it, I'm afraid it is too snug. If it's any consolation, I have the same issue.

Ooh, I like it. Very riding-like, yet classic. I'd say try one size up, just because you'll probably be layering under it, and currently there's too much pulling at the waist.

Think you need a different style, this looks like it's cut to fit a straighter body type. Have you tried Kookai? Their winter collection had a very similar jacket, in a similar colour, but it didn't seem to be as nipped in at the waist. Not sure how the price point compares, though.

I think it looks cute unbuttoned but too small when buttoned.

Have you tried a blazer in a knit fabric? I find blazers to be a bit constricting unless they are in stretchy fabric.

I have to agree, it looks snug when buttoned but very cute unbuttoned. That is usually how I wear blazers because they just fit me better that way. But if you're not comfortable with it unbuttoned it's probably not the jacket for you.

I think that I'm going to look out for another blazer, since I do like the option of buttoning! Thanks for the advice ladies

Was there enough room to move the button over? Sometimes even a half an inch makes a huge difference. If not (and I suspect, unfortunately, not), then I agree you were smart to pass on it. Very cute, though.

To my eye, the shoulders look slightly broad. I have the same problems trying to fit H&M and can never find a fit. They cater to a more Scandinavian body type. Their prices are seductive, aren't they?

I like it unbuttoned but I like my blazers ( and wool coats for that matter) snug.
If you want to button and still keep a tight fit, look for a blazer with more than one button. One button blazers tend to pull no matter the size. You need more buttons to hold the fit better. Same thing with coats, you need the buttons to be stitched closer together.
