I usually don't get very excited for the specialty lines at Target/H&M/Macy's, but these pieces look pretty fun, jackets especially.

I love the way this looks, but I have a feeling it will be all artificial fibers that will either pill immediately where they rub (like inside the thighs) or not breathe (like the jackets). Skeptical on H&M quality, my experience has not been stellar in the past.

I just hope that the prices aren't inflated beyond reason; my whole attraction hinges on the ability to try some drapey/bada**/MadMax-ish pieces without paying AllSaints prices.

Rae, GWADT isn't fantasy at all - it's more a modern murder sleuth series, set in Sweden. The main character, Lisbeth, is a badass, almost autistic, punk computer hacker. Thus this punky look... your opinion on the fashion may change once you know the character! I know many people adored her; I admired her, but wouldn't want to be her for a zillion bucks. They're fast reads and probably at a Half Price Books near you!

I read the books first, then saw the movies. Both excellent. I would say the H&M collection hits the right note. If I were as young as you, Rae, I'd be all over this look.

IK, I know it isn't fantasy; I was just impressed by the Swedish production/writing/gumption with LTROI. I feel like American movies have become toothless in many respects.

Denise, I still think you'd rock it, but you've probably moved on to better quality.

Oh no, Rae, I believe H&M goes up to size 16, but I was joking that the 'young hipster' look definitely favours the thin ones! Speaking of thin ones, though, I do find H & M runs small - I tried on a fab equestrian style black blazer at the beginning of the fall season, and the size 14 (which I typically wear these days) was just TINY.

That said, they do have killer accessories...saw the cutest all-faux fuzzy fur handbag last week!

Helen -- H&M runs small. I usually wear an 8 in H&M jackets, which I have found to be of consistent and decent quality for very little money. My regular US size is a 4.

Rae, I loved the film and those who've read the books, love them, even better! The original film, with subtitles, was so good. As for this look, you brought it and you can bring it! Any of these jackets would look KILLER on you!
