I did my part for the economy today!
I hit Jcrew first to return the coat. There were many pretty items, but I just have too many fit issues with their stuff, or the color is not quite right for me. So I didn't find anything there.
Next I hit ATL to return those ill-fitting cream slacks - and scored a tweed jacket in this beautiful shade of emerald, in the clearance section! It's this one - but the photo does NOT do the color justice! It's more emerald than olive:

... Green is my sig color so I couldn't resist.... I have tried on similar jackets in this style, and they never worked quite right, but this one fit very nicely. I think I can have a lot of fun with it.
Next I hit BR, with $70 of reward coupons in hand. I snapped up:
- a black v-neck merino cardi. This is a duplicate for me - I have it in cobalt already. Oddly enough, despite owning a zillion black cardis, I have no *winter-weight* black cardis! So I have been wanting to duplicate this one in black.
- another long-sleeve cowl neck tee, this time in emerald. It will work under the ATL jacket. I really love this knit top. Now I have it in three colors. And I *will* wear all three. I already get a lot of use out of the other two. I do not look that great in turtle-necks, so this is my next best-thing. Great layering piece - and keeps me warm.
- two sleeveless cowl neck tees, from the clearance rack, one in red and one in a tan herringbone pattern, which happened to look cute underneath the plum cardi I was wearing to shop today. Yes, that's a lot of cowl necks.... but I really like this neckline!
Next I hit Talbots, but the silk shell I'd tried on before was no longer there. However I did buy this adorable black and white checked hat.... which I don't see online... so you'll have to wait until I wear it!
Then I hit Bloomie's. I wandered around for a long time, picking through the sales and clearance racks, trying things on, but having no luck. Then on my way out, I hit the Theory section and tried on two items that weren't on sale.... loved them both... but just my luck, they weren't on sale...
However I had a $25 gift card and I just couldn't resist this blouse... which is not online, so you'll have to wait to see it! It's sleeveless, ivory, and has a wonderful neckline. It's a statement piece. I tried it on under jackets and cardis and loved the effect. I think it may also work under the Paris jacket ... or it may not - may be too competitive, since it's a statement piece on its own. I will have to play with that. Even if it doesn't, I'll get a ton of wear out of it anyway.
I also hit Macy's but didn't see a single thing that interested me.
Our malls were not empty, especially Bloomie's. It was very crowded. I stood in line behind a woman who racked up a couple thousand $ worth of stuff. Then again, our state isn't officially in recession - YET.
It sounds like a lot of stuff, but with all the coupons and sales, and the two items I returned, I came in about even.
