I found this humorous as well. It's certainly an eye-opener to get a perspective of someone who cares little or nothing about fashion. I'm pretty sure I would be a fish out of water at a fashion show, too, though.

This was great, thanks for posting It! I love that he is a writer (obviously a pretty good one), and immediately recognizes that he doesn't have the vocabulary to write about this subject. And that he is immediately, fully engaged. Wouldn't it be great to talk to him about his experience?

Great piece of writing. And great to see a trolley of Matua NZ sauvignon blanc! My daughter used to help make some- not Matua, but Oyster Bay. I loved how he was bummed that the designer he liked least won and it was funny how he became catty about her design's petals.
I have been to our own (small) NZ fashion week and actually didn't feel too out of place. Just felt more "normal" than the fashion people who seemed to do a lot of hyped-up greetings and air kissing.

Jenny, the Matua was my first key observation too!! (One of my faves!) ... A great balance between compassion and good humour. Terrific article, and the most drawn in I've ever been into "fashion culture"

Wow, that's a really compelling article. At first I thought it was going to be pure mockery/satire/maybe disdain, but he was so thoughtful and smartly earnest. And put some things in words that I had a vague sense of, but hadn't put my finger on. Now I kind of want to look him up--I'm not into sports but he is such a good writer!
