High-waisted shorts?

I bought a pair of high-waisted shorts a while ago and cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to style them. They hit a couple inches above my belly button and poof out a bit. (That photo isn't of them on me - I just found a picture of them online.)

I can't help from my own experience (the last time I wore something high waisted was in the eighties, and I looked terrible, because I am short waisted), but have you tried going on Google and entering "high-waisted shorts" and then hitting the Images button? I do that sometimes when I am stumped on how to style something.

Yeah, I usually do that. Unfortunately, in this case, for approximately all of the images I found, the look seemed to hinge on 1) the person having a really small waist and 2) the shorts being form-fitting. Unfortunately, neither of these things are true in my situation.

Can you post a picture of you wearing them? You could maybe just wear them with a plain t-shirt or something for now. Sometimes if we can get a visual, it sparks all kinds of ideas.
