High, higher or highest rise

So I've been lusting after Denise's (CocoLion) high rise AYR black jeans.
I've seen women wearing high rise jeans in Seattle with cropped jackets, etc.
This weekend I bought on super clearance ($26) a pair of dark wash Express high rise skinnies. But I'm afraid they'll bag out. I've been wearing them commuting, and they're starting to drift southward.
So far I found these:

I dunno. I can't wear that rise with a fitted pant--only with slouchy or pleated or track style. So have not tried to do that in jeans or similar fabric. It makes sense that they are good with short jackets, though--I never did quite get used to cropped jackets over low-rise pants.

I got a pair of acid wash high rise, el cheapo. I like them wayyyyy more than I thought I would.

I like the first oaks and ayr. The second oaks - the buttons and leg take away from the cool factor... on the other hand, they may look different on.

I think the "right" rise is so dependent on the wearer. All of those would be too high for me (instant frump on my body), but I can see each one of those working for someone with longer rise/torso proportions. What's the rise on the ones you've been wearing?

I like the first and second pair the best, but I think the 10.5 inch rise is my top choice. Are you long or short waisted, Anna? I forget...t's been so long since I've seen picture of you ! If you're really long waisted you could manage the 10.75 inch, but I think, personally, the 10.5 inch rise would be more comfortable.

I agree that the rise that looks best is dependent upon the particular woman's proportions and the other aspects of the cut. I know I am able to wear a higher rise than most women because I am very long waisted, have a fairly small waist, plus I think my rise is on the short side. This means that where a high rise is smallest tends to be where I am smallest, and pants/jeans never dig in at my waist. I think the top jeans look most flattering on that particular model, but most of us aren't built like models so that might not be the best IRL.

It's good to see you hanging around! I guess your post is a signal that when I replace my black jeans in the next year or two, I should get high rise ones.

Measure your own rise and then check these out for the proportion you want. That would be my solution to it. They all look potentially fab to me. I love how rolling has made us reconsider higher rise -- or vice versa.

I am interested in higher rises too - I eyeballed the ones at the Gap but I didn't want distressing and that is what they had. It will be a difficult fit for me in any case. I do think these are the sort of things you need to try on to know.

Agreeing with Suz because I like that her starting point is your own measurements. If you can possibly try them on, maybe you should turn away from the mirror and ask yourself how you really feel in the different rises. Are you comfortable when you sit down? Do you like your own mirror free visual looking down?
I stopped wearing oversized drape-y tops because even though they looked stylish in the mirror and great on lots of people I realized that when I moved around I felt dragged down and shapeless.
