Hi low maxi dress options

I have been on the lookout for a hi-low maxi for casual lakefront attire. The surplice one from UO was a fab style but too thin of a knit. The lumpy bumpy factor killed it.
I like this Aqua dress, but I wonder about being able to belt this style. Does the pintuck under the bust negate a belt, or could I still blouson a bit over a belt without it looking weird?
I'm stuck between straight shapeless styles that can be belted, and styles with some definition that might make belting trickier.
Oh how I wish the UO was lined . . .

This is beautiful but I cant tell about the pintucks on this small screen.
Could you try a petticoat with the UO dress? Maybe you could cut the straps off the petticoat and sew it to the bodice of the dress, ie make your own lining.

It is a little hard to see the pin tucks because of the colour, I think, so that might make it okay from a belt perspective?

Are you wanting to wear a belt for accessorising or function? If accessorising you could wear a long necklace instead to create some interest.

I think pintucks do cause trouble if you want to belt lower. I have had a couple of sort jersey maxi dresses with as you describe pintucks just under the bust. when you wear a belt lower they tend to create a little pouf of fabric between belt and pintucks. the longer you wear it more fabric goes into the pouf and you end up witha bit of fabric hanging over the top of the belt. I have one I do wear but I keep having to pull it down.

Thanks, Agnes, that's what I thought. I will keep looking. Stephabee, I want to accessorize with the belt, but mostly to create shape, which a necklace won't do. Fitted is one of my style descriptors

Hm, yeah, I think this one would look a bit odd with a belt at the waist and the pintucks under the bust. :T Bummer, it is very cute otherwise. I wonder how much it would be to have a lining put into the UO?

How about this one from Splendid? I own it and it has a nice fit through the bodice but not too tight. (FYI, the Zappos model makes it look more revealing than it actually is)

I sent the blue dress back right away. It was that thin
Angie, although the dress is maybe a midi on the model, it's 54", so definitely a maxi on my frame
I am going to hold out for just the right hi-low dress.

High-low maxis - that show front leg skin and look like midis - are the BEST maxis!
