Hi-Lo skirt hems on petites

In my search for longer skirts, I now and then run into high-low hems. Would such a hem be unflattering on a shorter person? My guess is yes, because I assume they would cut off the leg at an awkward spot, kind of like a midi skirt, a style that is tough for petites to wear well. Does this reasoning seem sound to all of you, or am I narrowing my long-skirt selections unnecessarily?

5'1" here I bought a Zara dark floral to throw on after gym to socialize at the coffee shop, but never felt quite right wearing it. Too bare in front and too poofy-shapeless in back. Preferred a maxi skirt as it looked simple and casual.

Let me know if you make it work.

I dunno - I have this dress and think the hem's okay? I'm 5' 4.5" Perhaps it depends on how high the hi-low goes?

Hmm...maybe it has more to do with the silhouette of the skirt than the fact that it has a hi-lo hem. Mo, your skirt doesn't have a huge A-line look to it--it looks like it's maybe a little straighter than some. It's hard for me to tell because the picture is a bit at an angle. Maybe a straighter silhouette will emphasize the vertical aspect?

I think it's a combo between poofiness and how the high-low angle is cut. Here's me in one (I'm 5'3"):

I also have a tie-dye one that's longer in the front and in the back. I think high-low hems work better on me than maxis because I feel swamped in all the maxi fabric.
