Hey Carter!! I have a question for you.

I have really been focusing on buying for my lifestyle and my climate. Buying for my climate has been the hardest part of this because I dream of sky lodges in Colorado. Certainly a fantasy.

Somehow I feel in love with these tweed items from Banana Republic. I bought the shell and the jacket. I am actively searching for the skirt.

I can easily rationalize the shell based on my climate. I am having a hard time rationalizing the jacket based on climate and the fact that I have yet to experience "Arctic air conditioning." But it is such a great piece. Pretty and well constructed.

What is your opinion? I would probably only wear it to work during the winter months. Yeah, you're right. I am relapsing and trying to buy for a fantasy life/fantasy climate.

But the skirt could work!!!

Not Carter, but also someone who has bought plentiful for a fantasy lifestyle.

I can see why you'd want to get all 3 pieces. So gorgeous! I really really really love that jacket, btw.

So you say you can wear that jacket to work in winters, right? So where is the problem?

Summer - wear the shell & skirt as a stylish business suit for important meetings and also wear separately.
Winter - Wear the jacket too - with the skirt & shell or even on a simple pair of black trousers + white button down outfit.

The reason I am enabling:

1) It would be buying for a fantasy lifestyle if you "didn't have an office to go to". You go to an office; you sure can dress in formals sometimes
2) These are classics. Will never ever go out of style, even if you wear each piece no more than 3-4 times a year
3) My winter & summer wardrobe doesn't overlap. Does yours? I can't wear my leather moto jacket or even denim jacket for 8 months a year, but I *can* wear jackets for 4 months, so I do buy them. I see no reason why buying that jacket is relapsing into buying for a fantasy life/fantasy climate.

PS: How warm is your climate, btw? Warmer than mine?

sterling…..not carter, and i haven't lived Charlotte in over 20 years….but i can tell you that if i was still in Charlotte, i would have worn this blazer from mid September until the end of November and then pulled it out again in late Feb and worn it until then end of May.

Hi Sterling -- obviously not Carter, but couldn't help checking out your purchases. All three pieces are beautiful. I do not think that the jacket would be completely impractical as it would be great outerwear for shoulder season (those days when there is still a morning chill in the air), as well as being a fabulous topper for indoors in your mild Southeastern Winters. Not only could the jacket be worn in a professional setting, it could easily be worn over jeans for casual Fridays and weekends. (I have two very similar tweedy motos, and this is their main use these days… tossed over my casual jeans and tee outfits.)

Good morning, Sterling. I love these pieces. I've had the shell "collected" for quite some time. Never bought it because I'm trying to focus on my current casual life. However, this whole collection is right up my alley. As you know, half the year can be too hot and sticky here to even think about wearing a jacket...and yeah, no clue where the arctic air conditioning might be;-).

However, I could certainly spend most of the year in one piece or another. The skirt is the easiest...probably all but the dead of Summer for me. The jacket could come in by November, likely worn over a sleeveles top for a bit, and stick around until February-ish. For me, the shell would be great March-May and Sept-November. Summer months would likely also be fine if I were inside most of the day

Well the jacket is polyester -- it's not wool, so it couldn't be that warm. I love the jacket and can see how it could be very useful, especially since you could wear it with jeans and casual clothes. I'm all too familiar with buying for a fantasy life but except for climate concerns these pieces don't seem to quite fall into that territory. They seem like good choices to me.

Those are all beautiful pieces, I particularly love the jacket. I just put it in my cart, maybe I will buy it if it goes on sale one day.

Thanks everyone. I own the shell and I absolutely love it. The jacket is on order. It will arrive on Friday. I have yet to encounter the skirt. This surprises me too. You would think they would be out at the same time.

These are pieces that say my name. So I'll likely keep the jacket.

You had mentioned the shell previously and since I liked the cut, I went by our Banana Republic to scope it out. I loved it and bought it right away! I didn't have the need for a jacket because I have about 2-3 that will go with the shell. I live in coastal SC and plan on wearing it year round. I'll need it with a jacket when at work where it's too cool for a sleeveless top.
