HEWI goggles?

I have been looking for navy sandals for what feels like most of my life. I got some about a decade ago, they are fine but I haven't loved them in a while, and needless to say they are looking a little worse for wear by now.

Found these. They are Munro's, so not cheap. Very comfortable. Very navy blue

Can you give me your honest opinion on the style of them, and how they look on my feet? I've purchased navy shoes in the past just because they are navy and haven't been critical enough.

First, you have very pretty feet! Second, I'm biased because I like this kind of strappy sandal. I think they look polished more than edgy. Is that ok?

I get HEWI goggles too! I think these look nice...they read as modern classic to me on their own, but I'm sure you could style them in a few directions. Pikolinos do navy shoes too fyi!

I like them, but I would like them more if there was less toe showing -- like if that first strap started a little lower down.

UmmLila, you hit on exactly on my hesitation with them. When I ordered them, I really didn't expect them to work because of the location of that bottom strap, but I had to try. On my feet, I think they look much better than in the stock photo, so I was pleasantly surprised. But I wanted to see if it bothered others, or if it were my HEWI goggles talking.

Kelly, you also make a good point about the lack of edge. I don't honestly think that bothers me... I can either get my edge elsewhere, or not worry about it. These will suit most of my summer navy clothes, which are a bit more classic. What I like about these is that I can see them with skirts AND shorts, which is especially nice with a hewi.

E, I'm not sure where I can look at Pikolinos, but I'll keep an eye out for sure.

If you are doubting yourself because you have had a pair for years that you don't love, put that aside and focus only on these shoes. They look very good on your feet and are in a much sought after color AND are comfortable. The trifecta of shoes. Keep.

If you feel fab wearing them, get them. If you have doubts, it might be best to pass. FWIW, you have beautiful feet and these show them off. They look classic to me.

Well here's me again being less than enthused. They aren't very edgy/clean/modern/cool - which you are. I can see my 84 year old mother in them, but not you. I have navy anything HEWI goggles too - so I totally get it.

I can SO relate to this. And I have twice settled because it was so hard to find navy sandals. The pair I have currently aren't bad but they aren't my favorite style either. Why is navy so hard???

I think this sandal looks very nice on your foot. That said, I do have a poison eye for sandals that show so much toe with the almost straight across front strap.

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa. I love your honesty. You've hit on the other thing that niggles me a bit about these... I can also see my mother in them. I didn't want to taint the feedback by mentioning that (and the toe thing, which I'm not so worried about now that I've seen them) but yeah.

I think it's time to try them on with actual outfits, and assess that way. If they were black, I'd say I know I can find my 10 if I keep looking. But navy? These may hit enough marks that I am willing to settle for a 7 or 8. If they are that :). I'll sit on it for a few days I think... see how I feel then.

Sorry I felt bad after writing that,and was worried it sounded harsh. But I hate having to compromise style to get something you want/need. Don't you find you never really feel as great in that thing when you DO do it? Why don't you shift to another colour that can replace the navy in the outfit - like cognac, or bone, or grey, or metallic? - instead of going for matchy-matchy navy. And again, I am as guilty of this as you - my HEWI is a navy bootie.

It's not that I need navy for a specific outfit... I need navy for lots of things. Last summer I did fine with my silver sandals, and I could continue to use them in place of navy, but I still want navy! And I seriously DO look every year, was just hoping these might do the trick. I have a pair of Reikers that I've stopped wearing because they have faded so badly (nubuck). They were only okay, and more for skirts than shorts. My navy Birks have died. So something that will do both (as these will I think) would be great.

I agree with E. To me they read a bit Modern Classic too and I have to admit to seeing more edge in your style lately, so I'm a bit on the fence about them.

Elizabeth I find them a bit 'meh'. I am sure they are a nice sandal but I just don't see these as being you. Your style is sophisticated and edgy and I just find these too ordinary for you.

Hate to be another bummer here, Liz. I know HOW MUCH you have been wanting navy sandals...but I don't think these are the ones you want. Something is just off.....they profile view looks ok but the front does not. I feel like the only good thing about them is that they are comfortable....and they are navy.

If you are OK about finding 'THE' HEWI NAVY SANDALS while wearing a comfy pair of navy sandals that aren't exactly perfect but feel very good, then keep them. At least you won't feel deprived!

I will also add - I think comfort is very very important in footwear. But I have recently started to avoid sandals that only feel good but don't look very 'me', so I'll give you the same advice. I'm on the same search for silver sandals....and I have returned 6 sandals so far. Sorry again....

I was pondering what Ummlilla said, and what Lisap said. I'm in the less enthused camp but my reason is slightly different. IF you are looking for a strappy navy sandal then maybe you would be better suited to one with narrower straps. i think that's my concern about the look of that particular shoe on your foot.

However, be wary of putting up a shoe that you feel great wearing to the scrutiny of YLF. I recommend that if it's comfortable, and you can find ways to wear it, please do. Munro shoes have been among my longest lasting and most comfortable. If you are wearing a killer edgy outfit, no one is going to remember or even notice your shoes if you put things together well, which I know you will

I didn't realize navy sandals were so hard to find. Then I tried looking for some for myself. You're right! Right now, I have two pairs of blue sandals: ancient faded blue Birkies, and the Steve Madden Nonstop with an unfortunate 3 inch heel. My new favorite sandal, Naot Kayla, SHOULD come in navy but doesn't. Zappos has it in 18 colors, but none is navy or blue. I don't think the Naot is particularly edgy, but it has clean lines, is comfortable, and makes my big feet look normal. Why doesn't it come in navy?

Wanted to chime back in and once again thank everyone for thier candor regarding these. I have to admit that I'm really loving the fact that so many of you pointed out that they were more "classic" than my style is, or that they don't have the "edge" that my style generally does. To me, this means that my style is evolving into something recognizable, and that is music to my ears!

I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. I will say that I think they are a bit more interesting than shows in the pics, as the leather on them is navy snakeskin. I'm feeling a bit defensive about them, which may mean that I like them (well, I do, otherwise I wouldn't be asking!). But it also may mean my hewi goggles are in full gear, so I need to sit and let the "emotion" settle down.

I just don't want to look "frumpy"! And we all know EXACTLY what that means

I vote no but if you style them I'd feel better about voting. I think they are that hybrid of sensible and style which can sometimes be perfect and sometimes off. They are "fine" but not more than that to me.

I like them. There's a problem with the shape of the heel but the uppers are very well designed and they suit your feet. They do read as somewhat classic but I'm pretty sure you can make them look edgy, particularly with a bit of nail art. How do you feel about styling them?

Elizabeth how about an outfit photo with the sandals. It's not always easy to muse looking at an item on its own.
