Basic white tees are a year-round essential of mine, and I am always on the hunt for the PERFECT one that checks all of my boxes:
- 100% cotton
- not too fitted
- not too boxy
- doesn't pill
- is opaque enough to hide my bra, but breathable in hot weather
- long enough to tuck
- short enough that I could wear it untucked, without looking like I'm wearing my husband's tee
- is inexpensive
Target's old Merona brand was close, and used to be my go-to, but since Target replaced Merona with their brand 'a new day', I have been disappointed. The new day tees pill horribly after only one wash, they are not 100% cotton, and the sizing is very inconsistent. Alternatively, the LL Bean cotton ones have held up well over multiple washings, but I like to have duplicates and can't always shell out $20 per tee.
I found these Jockey "Stay New" men's tees last month and am loving them. They check ALL my boxes! They come in black and white, crew neck and vneck. I am a 32A/B and got the men's small. They are a slimmer fit than a men's regular t-shirt (DH had to size up in these). On me, they are a nice relaxed fit that I can use under layers or alone, and they are perfectly opaque. I can wear them across multiple capsules - casual, sleep, loungewear, travel. They wash and wear like iron and are sold at Target and Kohls for around $5 or $6/shirt.
I remember some fabbers had been recently looking for tees, so I thought I would share.
