Hewi- sleeveless robe

Has anyone seen a sleeveless opaque robe in the wild? Our summers are normally 90s with 80+% humidity, and sleeves of any sort are a sweatfest. Any ideas?

A long floaty vest worn as a robe. Cut out sleeves from a robe or kimono, a DIY hack. You could cut the collar off too. Maybe you could look at swim cover-ups for something that could be worn as a robe.

A Portland artist makes rayon hand-dyed robes - mostly kimono style with short sleeve. I see she also has some sleeveless floaty dresses that might work. http://annajoycedesign.com/

Kaftans and kimonos come to mind. Not sleeveless per se, but the sleeves are open and airy.

Ooh I love the Anna Joyce stuff! I'm a sucker for dark non standard tie dyes
My mother suggested the swim cover up solution too, but all that i see are openwork (crochet, lace etc) or sheer. I had a kimono style robe but it was hot. Drapy vest maybe, but I haven't been seeing vests this year really.

I’m glad you two like her things. I work near her shop/studio and it’s always so fun to see the gorgeous colors hanging in the window! I’ve got a purple tie dye top of hers that makes me feel pretty fantastic.

Here in the PNW, shibori (indigo) and other tyrmdying techniques are all the rage. There are lots of classes being offered. I wonder if you might find a class if you live in or near a big city?

I'm 2 hours from several big cities, which is a good thing in many ways, but lessens my magpie (that looks like fun i should try that!!) options...
There is a lady at the renfaire thats an hour away that can maybe teach me!
Fast forward 6 months....
DH- dear, do you know anything about this big box of silks and 27 bottles of clothing dye?

Ive been overdyeing some things, trying to move the colors warmer, with some success. Sometimes it takes 2 rounds though. Dh is actually very supportive of all my whims, but wasn't happy that i repurposed a (rarely used in my defense) slotted cooking spoon for dye mixing!

Ooh, I’ve been thinking of trying some overdying for a couple of silk tops that I managed to stain. Wondered if a darker color might cover up. I assume I would need a dedicated pot and spoon for dying? I think it’s kind of hilarious DH got possessive of a slotted spoon! Was it hand forged by a family member?!

You do need to dedicate pot and utensils for dying as the chemicals can be poisonous if ingested.. You may need some extra strong vinegar used for dying. An old crock pot works well. Use it outside or well in a ventilated place.

Ha ha knitting gene! Nope, probably Walmart or such, and he doesn't cook besides microwave. Im just dyeing stuff in a bucket with hot tap water, not cooking the things on the stove. Its worked out fine.
