Hermes New $9K Ltd Edition Scarves Inspired by Japanese Photographer

Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto has designed limited edition scarves for fashion house Hermès’ Hermès Editeur.

The ‘Couleurs de l’ombre’ limited-edition silk scarves are inspired by Polaroids of the artist’s ‘Color of Shadow’ collection.

In his ‘Color of Shadow’ artworks, Sugimoto used a Polaroid camera to take long-exposure shots of cinema screens, light passing through prism, and extreme close-ups of colors to create vibrant and colourful photos.

Hermès selected some of Sugimoto’s Polaroids and printed them on silk scarves using ink jet printing.

Each scarf, measuring 56-inches by 56-inches, will retail at about US$8,860 each.

Oh Claudia!! I was going to suggest this for Angie's link post next week. I pinned one of the scarves on Pinterest because I fell in love with these scarves.
I love Mr. Sugimoto's artwork, e.g. the seascapes pictures series is stunning!

All the scarves are absolutely gorgeous (the colours are sublime), but scarf 075 with just the blues is my personal favourite.
They will be shown during an exhibition in Brussels in September, I am definitely going to drool over them in person:-)

We could still get our hands on one, but at € 7000/scarf it would need to be a timeshare with many YLF'ers for me;-)

Inge, that's a great website. Yes, there is currently good availability, but probably not for long I predict. A timeshare and a dream is certainly the only way I'd hold one, too.

And I thought the Alexander McQueen silk scarves were expensive! Hah!

The colors are absolutely stunning, I cannot imagine how gorgeous they must be in person. I agree with Anna though, I'd treat one as a piece of art and hang it also.

Gorgeous! These are truly works of art. I would be too afraid to wear them, but they'd be stunning hanging on the wall.

Drop dead gorgeous! My favorites are the ones that combine cobalt, aqua and black...037 or 118. although 016 with green too is the one I'd frame. I'll have to wait for the knock offs.
