Hem length and a few K/Rs

Hi Fabbers! Would appreciate your opinions on the straight legs with booties. I *think* it looks okay. Foot wear is so much easier with boot cuts but for the sake of variety, I'd like to be able to keep the straight legs in rotation too. (I wore this yesterday and felt fine but I was in the office all day.)

If you have time, I'd love some feedback on some tees I ordered from the Rack. I have been looking for some tees that I can wear under my knit blazers but would like them to be able to stand on their own too. Do you think any of these are keepers? Lastly, some handkerchief hem tops--do you love/hate them? I could wear the olive one to work--not so sure about the stripes. Thanks so much for looking!

I'll do my best Firstly, the jeans. Well these days I'm personally not liking as much scrunch on my jeans and so speaking purely personally, I would shave a little off the jean length as there seems a fair bit of extra fabric.

Secondly, the tees all seem fine to me. You have a nice variety of colour and neutral and pattern.

Finally, the handkerchief hem tops...I'm not loving the striped on as much as the charcoal one, but take that with a large grain of salt as I'm not a huge fan of stripes on myself. There does actually seem to be more volume and width across on the back view of the striped one too, which is also why I prefer the first one.

Thanks, Diane! I'm in a quandary about the jeans. I've been wearing them with my mary janes almost exclusively--length is perfect with those shoes. With the weather cooling off, I'm trying to figure out weather appropriate foot wear. My other option is to scrunch them into mid shaft boots--it is passable but not my preference (at least for work.) I'm going to have to dig a little deeper in the closet, I think!

Thanks for the thumbs up on the tees--I like them all and they certainly fill a closet hole. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Are you always going to wear the jeans with those boots? With the boots, I think, like Diane says, they could be shorter (but this is really nickpicky because I think they look pretty good, just with slightly more scrunch than I personally like). If you want to wear them with flat sandals or something similar, you may need all that length.

I like all three tees, but I like the second two better than the first one.

I like the olive top but I'm not sure about the striped one. It reminds me of a poncho and I'm on the fence about it.

Kelly - I think the jeans are fine. If they are mosty worn with mary jane shoes I would make sure you are happy with the length for those ones. I love the blazer on you!!

I am with Sara with the tees - all good, especially 2 and 3.

I think the striped handkerchief tee is too big but I love the other one on you!!

I agree with others about the scrunch of the jeans. I personally have always liked it but it's not what I'm seeing on blogs/in magazines right now. You could try rolling to just above the top of the boots, at least until it gets cooler?

I am not in love with the print of the first tee on you, and although I like the second in general, it looks a little short, maybe? Third is nice. I have a bit of a poison eye for poncho tops, but the striped one in particular looks awfully big on you.

I also feel that there is a little too much scrunch on the straight legs. Could you cuff it inward?

I prefer the middle and right tees for fall. The color on the left seem more spring/summer.

I prefer the olive over the stripes. The stripes seem overwhelming.

I like the scrunch. Try cuffing the jeans once with those boots too, Kelly.

All the tees are fab. Prefer the olive poncho to the stripes. GREAT to see you. Love to you and Oreo.

Thanks, Sara and Sally! I'm going to see if I have any lower profile booties that will work. I've noticed now that I'm actually on my feet for 10+ hours, that there is "comfortable" and then there is comfortable. I was telling my girlfriend that SAHM comfortable shoes are different than working shoes. Her solution? Go shoe shopping!

Thanks for the feedback on the tees too. You reminded me that one of my goals was to be a more picky shopper--so I will resist the urge to keep everything just because the tops were on sale and I am lazy about returning. Thank you so much!

Thanks, Laura, AJ and Angie! You are all so helpful. I will try the cuffing. I'm loathe to hem only because these are the right length for non-booties and winter is really only 3-4 months over here. Thanks for the critical eye on the tops. I haven't had time/energy to go shopping so I'm always tempted to just keep stuff as long as it fits both size and budget. I was leaning toward keeping the stripes--thanks for cleaning my sale goggles! LOL!

I don't mind the scrunch either, but as others mentioned, could you try rolling? Maybe one big fat roll (haha my term there) where you just cuff it up? Maybe worth trying different rolls to get the right length w/the boots.

I love the color of those cognac ones BTW. And I am jealous you can wear mid calf boots!

The tshirts all look great! Love the colors, too.

I like both ponchos, don't mind stripes personally so one or both is cool in my book. They both look good, just depends what you'll layer under and how well they play in your wardrobe.

I also don't mind the scrunch, and you can always roll (either up so it's visible or under so it's more streamlined) if you feel like less scrunch that day. Of the tees in photo #2 I like the middle (black floral) and right (brush stroke) best; the left one's sleeve shape isn't our best (for example, the middle tee is MUCH more flattering with the deeper angle), but it would of course be fine under a jacket. LOVE the olive hanky hem top on you. And I also actually quite like the stripey one BUT it does strike me as more high-contrast and dramatic than what you usually wear.

I like the jeans with the boots; I still like a bit of scrunch myself. The tees look good on their own, and I prefer the last two for work, as they look more polished to me. I like the poncho-like tops, with a preference for the olive one. With the v-neck and solid color, it is more elongating. You are as cute as ever, and so is your little Oreo.
You and your friend are so right about comfortable and all-day-standing-comfortable shoes. You just gotta mind the feet and keep them happy.

Of the tees I like the second one the best. The third tee is the only one that struck me as off in the proportions -- something about the little bit of extra length plus the contrast sleeves. Would certainly be fine under a jacket though.

Re: jeans, I agree with those who suggest cuffing. If you like the length for other shoes, you limit your options by hemming them (I've done that and realized it was a mistake afterward). The scrunch is not terrible, but I've never been a big fan of the scrunched look. I much prefer a cuff.

Since I'm a sucker for stripes, I probably am not the person to ask about the handkerchief tops. It's definitely a bold piece! I like both a lot, although I like the sleeve length on the olive better.

@abc: LOL! I like your terminology! It works for me. I don’t know why I didn’t think of cuffing. I’m going to try it tomorrow.

@Aida: Thanks so much. I see what you mean about the sleeves on the tees. I knew there was something I was missing. Lol--yes, the striped top is definitely high contrast, isn’t it. I’m going to play with that one a bit and see if I can imagine myself wearing it in public.

@Sharan: Thank you! I have a closet full of shoes but only a handful that I would consider all day at work shoes. I’m not used to feeling so limited--I do love my shoes! Thanks for the thumbs up on the tees and poncho tops and for the jeans scrunch!

@la Pedestrienne: Thanks. The longer sleeve top was the one that I was the most unsure about. I had a top that was similar that was a little distracting because of the contrast sleeves so thanks for reminding me. Glad that the stripes do have a few fans too

I'm still liking a bit of scrunch, and I would be more likely to keep the length if it made the pants more versatile in my wardrobe. Straight legs look fresh to me again.

Of the tees, the middle is my favorite -- but then I do love a bold, high contrast print!

I really like the handkerchief hem tops --- your strong shoulder line makes these look particularly good!

Another vote for the last two t's - not loving the way the sleeves fit on the first one, and the darker prints just seem more " you" anyways. Another vote too for the olive poncho top . The striped one is cool, but there's a lot of sweater there and it's a little overwhelming on your body. Jean length? Looks fine to me, but I'd cuff them too.

Can I say that my favorite photo / outfit is the one with your pup? That is a great top!

I like the jeans as is - you look all put together to me in that first photo. The scrunch is fine. Not being a fan of tshirts on their own I tried to imagine all 3 of them under jackets, and my favorite on you is the 3rd one.

I think if you styled the striped top a little differently (with more black? Grey? Flares) I would like it more - just don't love it with the jeans and boots you are wearing now. I do like the other one a lot.

I prefer the look of skinnies tucked in, or jeans that are rolled above the boot, or bootcut jeans that drape easily over the boot.
So my vote would be to save your straight legs for the summer, or else find a way to roll them above your boots.

I think all your t-shirts are fab, but agree with lisap that the first t-shirt colours seem less 'you'.

I like the scrunch. This seems to be a personal preference kind of thing. You could fold under too. I like shirt #3 best. My favorite pic is Oreo in motion.
