help with WIW photos, no light

Hi everybody. Lately it feels as though my style journey has ground to a halt. Part of this is because I've been moving and starting a new job. But maybe an even bigger part is that I haven't figured out how to take WIW photos in my new place.

For one thing, I don't have a mirror. This is fixable. For another, I have no light. I thought this wasn't fixable, but Suz says she has no light either. Thoughts and questions:

I can't use a flash and a mirror at the same time, right?
If I get one of those apps to put my phone's camera on a timer, the phone's flash probably won't be adequate, right? Or will it?
So does this mean I need a camera and a tripod?
Is there some camera that is minimally adequate for the job?

Thanks for any help you can give. I really miss the feedback that WIWs give, both just visually for myself, and of course especially from all of you!

Well, first of all, if you don't have a full-length mirror, you need one ASAP, WIWs or not! Otherwise how can you know how you look before you go out to face the world?

Flash + mirror is definitely not going to work. A camera (inexpensive ones aren't bad these days) that you can either set on a shelf with the self-timer, or use with a tripod is probably your best bet.

Chronically your wardrobe, even if you didn't post the pictures, is worth the investment, IMO.

I personally take my wiw picties in a mirror with a flash (sometimes I open the entrance door on my right side to have some extra light) but that's all I can do!

My hall entrance is probably not all that propperly lightened, the mirror is narrow and too close, so have to make my picties angled for showing my shoes, too-, which I know doesn't make up to the YLF's high standards, but I just don't have the time, place and the right equipement to do a better job than that, so I guess must work with what I have.

BTW along the times, and after deciding will let my face showing, too I have developed a kind of experience for minimizing the effecs of the flash in the mirror, it's not impossible, but can be difficult, indeed. You have to use the camera somehow from outside the mirror on your side, and a bit tilted. I mastered it:-)
