Pretty soon baby should arrive, and then I will be on leave for several months before returning to work. I am really looking forward to getting back into “normal clothes”, and it has been REALLY HARD to sit on my hands this fall because there is so much out there that I love. Obviously with the baby and the holidays coming up, spending money on me comes low on the list, but nevertheless I have salted away some fun money (leftover from my birthday this summer) that is burning a hole in my pocket. According to my mother I will need to buy some jeans a size larger than usual until my body gets back to normal, but I plan to do that as cheaply as possible, so I am not counting it.
Of the following cravings I could have one thing:
1.) Sneakers--I know a lot of people here don’t like the athletic trend, but I do, and I think it can be done well, like this blogger here (http://www.fash-n-chips.com/20.....fit-1.html). I do already have black Converse and black hightops, but I just like the idea of maroon... These ones are on sale, so if I buy them I could also buy an infinity scarf or some other fun item.
2.) Day time clutch--still really wanting to try out this look but I haven’t felt confident to order something online. I prefer to shop for bags in person and I haven’t seen one IRL that I am in love with. I do think all of these online options would work though. Of course I won’t be out and about too much in the coming months, but sometimes I will.
3.) Red and black checked shirt--easy to wear all winter with other black wardrobe items. I just love this inspiration photo. I haven’t found a real life version yet.
4.) Oversized watch--the ones that I like are pricey and I just can’t decide how long this trend will last. Currently I wear a “classic” two-tone lady’s watch from Tissot that I am attached to probably because I bought it myself when it was special to be able to do so and because I wear it every day, so I am accustomed to it, but honestly it looks dated right now
5.) New clothes--I really liked this athletic-inspired pencil skirt, and I thought this drapey gold cardi was quite fetching. Probably I “need” the skirt more than another cardigan/top. The gold color just felt really right on me and would go with my new boots. I tried the cardigan on around 6 months but decided it would fit for about a week before my belly continued its exponential trajectory. The skirt was too tight in the waist, but would probably be forgiving post-partum. On the other hand my mother maintains I should wear proper (non-elastic clothes) to help me get back into form, which kind of makes sense.
Does any of this grab you or make sense to you? Or am I just a little stir crazy due to months of self-restraint and I shouldn’t consider any of this? Since I feel so limited, I am having a hard time zeroing in on just one fab thing.
