Help with jackets?

Hi everyone! I could really use some advice.

(1) is a jacket that I just bought at the anniversary sale. I think I love it, but I'm afraid it might be redundant with what I already have.

(2) is the jacket I'm afraid is too similar. The thing about this jacket is I *want* to love it, but I'm not quite sure I do. Possibly I'm not wearing it with the right stuff?

Would love some feedback!

To me they've got a very different feel (moto/urban/tough/clean-edged vs softer/flowy/earthy) though perhaps you'd wear them with the same base outfits. Which suits your style more?
p.s. I love the green color of the jacket you just bought. It looks very fresh to my eye.

I much prefer the first one - LOVE the deep green color. I feel like they are very different in style. I think the large draped front areas of the other one are sort of overwhelming maybe? Also the bottom gives a triangle appearance at the front that may be making it harder to style?

The first one really suits your coloring, and I favor it over the second, as long as it’s not too short through the torso. It might be that I’ve tried similar jackets to the second and personally find the flaps too fussy.

I agree with sea salt that they are a different vibe. The second one is dressier. You could wear the second one out to a dressy fall or winter event with a cocktail dress or wool pants.
The first one is an everyday jacket.

(I think you could also wear the second one with jeans too, for an every day look.)

Just to be clear, I already *own* the second one. I definitely love the first one more. I'm really trying to decide two things:
1) Should I keep or return the first (I think I've settled on keep. Your positive response helped. Thanks!)

2) Should I give away the second one, or keep it and see if I can make it work? I love it so much in theory. But struggle with it in reality. =/ I think it might be where it hits me? Like it needs to be longer? Any ideas about some proportions to try with it?

Love #1. As others mentioned color is fab on you.
Re the 2nd one hard to tell, is it olive green? Anyway, I’d try wearing it with lighter colors or brighter colors I think with the black it’s just not popping like the one in #1. Maybe with a white tee? Or a column of white.

The green jacket is perfect on you. The second (taupe?) one is trickier to style. I think that what you want with it is something on the bottom which just goes straight down like a pencil skirt or trousers that don’t taper in from the hip. I think that because the diamonds formed by the front tips of the jacket point right at the hip it looks more streamlined if nothing else complicates this zigzag line.

Personally, I’d be likely to wear it with a horizontal rib knit skirt or dress, or something tweedy or heathered to add a little bit of contrasting texture without complicating the lines.

Omg I love the first on you!! The green in incredible with your coloring and the cut is divine. Made for you!! You sound ambivalent on the second. If you like it play with it of course. And if you need another for variety etc. I’m at the stage where I want to love what I wear. Ok isn’t good enough. But I agree context changes the look and it might work brilliantly in an outfit. I’d try it on with literally everything you own to decide. But omg keep the green!!

I love the first one on you. The second one I’m not so keen on tbh. I just think the shape isn’t great, it seems to not be sitting in quite the right way on the front of the shoulders and chest. By all means test it out with other outfits though! Worth a try

They are not similar to me and you prefer the first so keep that and perhaps say good-bye to the second.

I am so glad that it sounds like you have decided to keep the first jacket. The two are sufficiently different and create entirely different looks. I love the beautiful color and the edginess of the first jacket.

Yay you are keeping the first one - it is gorgeous on you. Give the olive one a try with some different stylings, but if you can't make it work, perhaps consign or sell it.

I agree they both have different vibes. The first is definitely a keeper but I also see lots of use for look #2.

I agree with karen13 -- the first one is fantastic in color and style. I can see why the second one is a challenge. If you try some stylings but still have trouble making it work and end up not reaching for it, I would sell or donate.

Agree with those who vote to keep the first -- that color is fabulous. The two jackets are not similar at all to my eye, but do try some of the styling suggestions you've been given before making a decision.

Whoever said try with pants that don't taper towards the foot is spot on to me. I think jacket #2 would work better with straight style pants or skirts or a more voluminous bottom to help balance the visual weight of the jacket.

The first one is great! I think if you're not loving the second, it's not worth keeping. It looks good, but you want to feel really great in your clothes. Just double up on how much you wear the first.

The first one (the green) looks excellent on you. The colour as well as the proportions seem to suit you well.

The second one is very nice but needs to be worn with a different bottom. Try it with a straight or A-line skirt.

I agree with everyone - that first one is a winner on you for sure. I hope the styling suggestions for the second one work for you, as it’s very nice as well. I think they are different enough that you can have both.

First is a definite keeper, and the 2 jackets have very different vibes. And to me #1 is an outdoor jacket and # 2 an indoor jacket. Maybe try #2 with a sheath dress?

I love the new jacket and it is very different to the one you own. The moto style is brilliant to wear with virtually everything, how you have styled it now and over dresses etc. The olive waterfall is definitely trickier. I recently donated a similar jacket because it just was too hard to work, whereas with moto leather jackets they always seem to work.

The first one is for sure a keeper. That second one, I want to love it too; but something about it isn't sitting right with me. I think it's the colors. The cut/style is gorgeous; and it looks like its hitting you in roughly the same place as the green moto jacket (more or less, given the angles at the hem).

Definitely keep the green and I would support giving the other away. It obscures your shape and does not have the youthful charm of the first one on you. Even though it's kind of a classic style, on you, I think it looks a little outdated.

The first is absolutely very pretty on you in every way.

Love the first jacket so glad to hear that you are definitely keeping it. I agree with others that the jackets have very different vibes. I would try your current jacket with more fall colors to see if that works in terms of styling.

I do like the second jacket (but not as much as the first one). I would hold onto it and try different ways of styling it and only get rid of it if you struggle to find ways to wear it.
