Help with BR sweater sizing. - YouLookFab Forum

First let me say that if you ever need a pick me up go to a Banana Republic dressing room. The lights in there are amazing!! Has anyone noticed this? They do something amazing to your skin tone and make all the clothes look good (which, I suspect, is the point!). I want to put one over my head and walk around with airbrushed skin tone!

I bought this BR red and navy marled sweater after snapping these dressing room pics. I love the color and thought I would try the long shirt underneath thing. I tried this white shirt underneath at the store. It was a bit high contrast for me so I think I will look for a navy shirt to put underneath. I'm just wondering if I need a petite in this sweater because it has a little pucker on the sides. Do you think it needs to be a little shorter? I put in the model pic for comparison.

Nice sweater!

I would certainly consider trying it in a petite. Hopefully that will get rid of the puckering.

Thank you Tanya! This sweater is sitting just below the waist band of my pants. For anyone who has tried this look and is short waisted is the sweater supposed to sit above the waistband?

Jeanie, it looks like you have exactly the trouble I've been having with these sweaters and their length. How tall are you? Are you like me, and borderline for petite? (I am 5'4" more or less, probably a smidge less, LOL.)

This colour is superb on you. I have been eyeing that sweater as well. I would try the petite also and compare. It can't hurt.

I agree with everyone; try the petite. Right now it looks a bit inbetween, like a regular length sweater that's just a bit too short rather than a cropped length. Might look nice with a skirt at that length, though.

Yes, another vote to try the petite. It is a gorgeous sweater, isn't it, I love the colour and the subtle textural interest.

FWIW: I really like it paired with the white shirt (I'd like to see it with a collared white shirt too, that way you would have extra visual balance with the white peeking out up top and from under the hemline, if that makes sense). But I'm also loving the sound of a navy shirt. That will be a rich colour combo (ink blue or a dark purple will work too).

Suz, yep....I am 5'4" too and short waisted. I thought the sweater fit OK until I got home and looked at the pics some more. I need to remember to always try the petite. This sweater over shirt seems like it should be easy but it isn't.
Laura - I never thought of wearing this with a skirt. That's a good idea. I will try it and see if I still get the bulgy things at the side
Inge- This style probably would look better with a collar. I will give it a try. Not sure if it will work with my short neck. I love the idea of ink blue...I can't get enough of it!

Yes, you are getting what alaskagirl's once called " love bandles" and now I use that term in my head all the time!

I get that a lot if there is a banded bottom or if the hem is slightly nipped in, due to my waist- hip ratio, if the cut is not right.
FWIW I am not a petite for sizing but I have also been trying some sweaters in P due to sizing for fluid fit but without the added length. So be sure also to try a couple of sizes in case you'll hit the right combination of width and length.
