Help with Boyfriends, pretty please!

Finally got around to trying on some BF jeans at the Gap...I haven't been completely sold on this trend for me but after Angies post todays and seeing so many wonderful examples from all you lovely YLF'rs I thought I would post some pictures and see what you think....

1) Are these the right fit? These are my normal size except not "talls" (which I usually need for my 34 in inseam) are these the right length, should they be longer?

2) I would order a dark non distressed wash, these were the only ones in stock in my size and I'm not a fan of the distressing and lighter wash....

ps, they had some cute tops, one of my favorites was this draped neck stripe top which I am very fond of for my broad shouldered self...

I am no expert but I think the length is great and I hope you bought the top!
I think you are totally right in going with a darker wash.

Carole, I actually like *that* pair of BF's on you. Just a bit of slouch and the faded wash looks cooler and more casual for summer. You could tuck/semi-tuck too. Love the top, hope you got it.

Typically, you want them looser and "slouchier" for the BF look, Carole. Although different people have differing tolerance levels for the slouch. To get it, you have to size up. Way up. I sized up 2 sizes on my Gap BFs. Having said that, I actually find them a little TOO baggy most of the time. My preferred jeans are a pair of "slouchy skinnies" which are slouchy at the top but more narrow in the leg area than my Gap BFs.

I think you should order talls, too.

Thanks Debbie and Claire! This baggy fit is something that I will have to get used to as I mostly wear skinny this and that!

Suz-Thanks for the detailed observations...I think I would prefer "slouchy skinnies", that sounds like something more to my liking...not sure where to look...any suggestions or do you just size down in the Gap Sexy BF's, I wonder...the great thing about Gap is having the tall sizes which is harder to come by!

I would probably order the tall size, that way you can wear them unrolled too. They look like they'd be high above your ankle if you unrolled them.

I think they fit well. Not too baggy, not too tight. But we all have to find, as Angie says, our "bagginess threshold." I guess it's the opposite of the fit for skinny jeans. Some want them tighter, some not so tight. It's all what you feel comfortable with wearing.

Slouchy skinnies are the holy grail!!

Mine are three years old Banana Republic. They don't make them any more.

For slouch, you want a dropped crotch point. This means the pants will be hanging off your hips and might not stay on without a belt.

I like these on you Carole! I personally wear mine baggier, but you do not have as high a baggy-threshold as I do - to Suz's point.

I prefer my BF's to my slouchy skinnnies actually. I LOVE my new True Religions!! We are all different

I like them in this size but you can size up as well if you like. Why don't you try size up as well, take pictures and see which one makes you feel better? This is the key - you should feel right in this style of jeans and this is highly personal.

I like these on you, but I'd also try a size up. I ordered the tall length online ... it's worth getting the extra inches.

I like these on you. If it is a boyfriend style, the bagginess is part of the style, without having to size up. If you want them more slouchy and want them down more on your hips, then try a bigger size.

Did you try them in a size up? I like mine a lot baggier than this - I went up 3 sizes with my GAP BFs - probably not for you, but maybe one size up?

I don't know how the jeans should fit, but I love that striped shirt and the way the stripes meet chevron style on the sleeves.

I have a pretty low threshold for bagginess so these look great to me. My new BF jeans have a relaxed leg similar to yours but aren't baggy or slouchy at the waist/seat. I hate to wear belts so my pants need to stay on without one. Also the rear view is important to me - I don't like looking like I have a saggy rear. I would suggest getting them in the longer length though so you can wear them both rolled and unrolled.

I like this size in this pant on you, it looks like just the right amount of slouch to me. Slouch is great and all, but you don't want to be swimming in your jeans, do you?

You look fab in these, Carole! Especially with the top, very spring-like and casual. I think a bit roomier fit is nice, too, but as it's been said already, you have to feel comfortable in it. Like Claire, I like this wash on you a lot.

It seems the typical fit of BF's is much more baggy. But honestly, I just can't see myself in anything more baggy. My top half is so much bigger (I'm an IT) that wearing big baggy pants will probably make me look bigger than a house all over.

Angie and Suz, I love the True Religion style you link to, but the price point is more than I am comfortable with for a style I'm just not sure about for me. I think this Gap style in Tall will fit the bill for now.
