Help! White jeans got inked.

The hubster and I went to a concert tonight and I got the purple ink from my hand stamp on my white jeans. Any suggestions on how to get it out?

I have heard that nail polish remover works. However in my experience, nothing works with ink. I am constantly getting pen marks on my work tops and the best I can do is repeated Spray and Wash plus laundry cycles to make the stain more faint.

Do the jeans tolerate bleach?

Sunshine. I've got some awful stains out of my white jeans by just hanging them out in the sun!

Seconding the sun, but I tried it only on organic stains, e.g. DS comes home from the kindergarden with tomato sauce stains

Also, I had espresso down my white jeans on their maiden voyage and washed them on 90C programme (all extra options set: prewash and wash plus) and they have come out after 2h30 looking pristine. They are 100% cotton btw.

Maybe an alcohol pad will soak up some of the ink? What about soaking in Oxi Clean or bleach?

i used to use hair spray, but its been a while since i have tried this.

Have you tried a spray and wash solution like Clorox? Otherwise what about a diluted bleach solution, applied with a Q tip. Dab it on, wait a bit then rinse and repeat.

First off, big hugs!!!

Next, what's the fabric composition of the jeans? Check that.

I got ink on some sheets once (well, more than once, actually...insert blushing fact here). But this time it was a new duvet cover or something and a real mess. It wasn't white so bleach was not an option. So I went online.

I tried a variety of things and each helped to a degree. First, nail polish remover. Then hairspray. Then soaking in regular stain remover stuff, followed by washing. I think I did another round of this.

Eventually, the stain came out!!

So I think it is possible to succeed, depending on the type of ink used and the fabric of the jeans.

Petrol? It's a great solvent, so worth a try.

my latest trick is hand sanitizer. I get lots of ink stains from pens at work. I put a blob of it over the stain, let it soak for a few sec and gently rub.

I managed to substantially lighten an ink stain from a permanent marker by using a combination of methylated spirits and washing and bleach and repeating the process a few times.

It depends on the solvent in the ink. I think I'd try rubbing alcohol first. I've had great success with it in the past.
