Help! What do you think of this dress and how to style it?

I saw this dress on JCrew website and also on Extra Petite blogger site. Yes, I'm one of these unfortunate people that can fit into kids sizes(and since its half the price of their adult line, its def a benefit). I don't like the sequined sash so I would replace it with my own belt but what about accessories and such?
Is this dress too "I'm 12 years old" looking? I'm totally stumped because I NEVER(and I mean NEVER) wear dresses. FYI, I can't wear high heels and the only shoes I CAN wear are flat sandals. Trying to avoid frump here so any help is appreciated!

Will it work with skinnies (maybe white under it) for summer with sandals? Great color.

looks like a very simple shift dress/tunic, I think it can be styled into a non-children's look easily. Maybe over white bermudas with a great scarf at the neck?

I think you have to try it to find out. In general I think the JCrewcuts stuff is very well made and quite sophisticated - at least it makes my kiddo feel that way!

thanks, Ladies. I was thinking of wearing it with leggings or skinnies as I have a T-shirt dress and that's the only way I normally wear it. I guess I was just wondering if I could actually wear it as a dress and not look like I'm a little girl. I may have to call Jcrew to find out how long it actually is and see if they can tell me

Without the sash I don't think it's obviously a child's dress unless the fit is off.

I find that although the sizes of children's clothes sometimes work, the fit can look wrong. They tend to be shorter, boxier, and have short arms/legs. However, since this tunic looks like it's meant to be boxy and they sleeves are cropped, it might work with leggings!

Sammi is right about fit, I find; I sometimes DO buy "youth" gear because there the fit is not so crucial and the price is definitely right! But with clothes, although the measurements work for me, the cut isn't always the greatest. This, however, looks as if it could easily work on an adult, and the colour is divine. Give it a go!

Ok, I went ahead and ordered it. I even called JCrew to get more measurements including lenght and seems like it would come to respectable knee leght on me. Thanks to Extra Petite blog I used a code for 30% off and it was free shipping too! If you don't live in HI, you have no idea how much you get charged for extra shipping all the time, its nuts so I'm happy! Will defintely post pics after I get it

I hope you'll try it. The fit of the children's clothes would be tough to figure out ahead, but this particular dress isn't childish at all, the color is divine for spring & summer, and I think it would look fab with leggings.
