As a resourceful bunch, do you all have any suggestions or places I should start looking? I may very well end up ordering online since my location doesn't always lend itself to great shopping choices.

Below are some selections from Land's End that might work. I thought the dotted one looked youthful, but it doesn't have sleeves. It would be cute with a red sweater and red shoes' though!

Realize that a lot of the dresses you see are modelled by tall folk. Check the actual dress measurement and see where it will fall on your daughter's body. What might look too short in the picture might work IRL.

Annagybe - I've never heard of shabbyapple. I like the dresses, but I see that any promotion on them (right now 40% off) makes them a final sale. That would be tough.

That eshakti looks very interesting. The customization of neckline, sleeve, and length could really work here.

Runcarla - lands end has the added benefit of being easy to return, plus conservative. I will also consider a little sweater if it's sleeveless.

Try Cato or Dress Barn, both have lots of selections online. Cato has cute modest styles, reasonable prices, and nice quality and fit. Dress Barn might not have as many younger styles, but there are some possibilities.

I found my teenage daughters (20 years ago!) enjoyed having a few new things often, so spending a little less was great for my family. They were more concerned with feeling good in their clothes, as in fitting in with their group and dressing modestly. A sweater is a good idea, as mentioned above.

I also second eShakti. Customization is well worth it, either sizing or for features like sleeves and necklines. Land's End is also a good recommendation, and you can make return for free at Sears.

I love this dress by J-Crew, it is not very dressy being a shirt dress, but I think with the right accessories it could be dressed up.

i'd also give Modcloth a try....its geared towards her age group, they have TONS of dress, in a variety of sizes and price points ...(l know you said she likes sleeves, but these are just a couple of quick examples)

Greenjeans and Ginger - there's a lot of customizing available at eshakti. I think that could be a good option.

Cjh - I never thought of dress barn. We have one near us too, so could be easy to pop in or return as needed.

Bijou - I like that Jcrew dress. It's cute.

Kkards - I got some flying cat tights for DD from mod cloth.
I will check out the dresses too.

Cute dress, Bijou! Oh, yes, Modcloth is another winner. You have to look a little harder for dresses with sleeves, but there are quite a few. Necklines are usually fairly modest as well. Do watch out for the skirt lengths; my single biggest complaint with Modcloth skirts and dresses is that many are 4-6" above the knee on their average-height models. But not all! I wear this one all the time, and I'm 5'9". The wrap front is low but is not difficult to pin closed.

UmmLila - she doesn't dress very young most of the time. I think the shape of these could work. I personally like the Boden dress, as it is something I would pick out for myself.

I am 5' 1" with narrowish shoulders. If a dress, sweater, or top has a scoop or v-neck, I find I am more likely to get a fit if I both order down a size and make sure it's a Petite size. The narrower shoulders help lift the neckline!

For extra length, I often order dresses in Regular sizes vs. Petite. A 4P is often a 2R. For Talbots and Lands End which run in conservative lengths, I would order in both Regular and Petite sizes since your daughter is on the cusp. I've never ordered from Boden.

You could try Anthropologie. They have many of their dresses in petites' sizing. A lot of the offerings will be too short, but they do have some longer things, and the designs are often very interesting. Part of the problem with shopping petites' is that the clothing is often pretty boring.

I am tall and have a larger bust, but I do have the same issue as your daughter in that so often necklines are too low for me personally. I bought a selection of 'Second Base' half-camis (Angie had recommended that brand a while ago) and I use them several times a week underneath any t-shirts, dresses, sweaters etc. that I feel need the extra coverage. Perhaps your daughter could look into purchasing some, as they will dramatically increase the number of dresses she can choose from. The half-camis come in so many colors that I can almost always find the perfect color for any outfit.
