HELP NEEDED with Dr Martens Boots fit, comfort & style

My search for the perfect silver boots continues (as my two other (non DM) pairs are on their way back for refund.

I am a UK Size 6 (EURO 39/US 8.5) with narrow feet and am unsure whether the fit will be ok if I order the 6. I have tried the shorter boots before but they were painful on the top of my foot - is this unusual?

Will they suit me (as I'm only 5ft 5 tall) and was thinking of wearing to funk up tunic dress and leggings/tights.

You need time to break in Docs (the iconic shape). I sized down half a size in mine. I wear a UK 4.5 and sized down to a 4.

It's a process before they are comfy, but it's worth it. These are true wardrobe classics that will stand the test of time. They are also indestructible. You will have them for life.

Like Angie I sized down 1/2 size and have just ordered my third pair of Docs. I'm totally in love with the comfort of these babies and intend on being a Docs fan for life!

I wear a US 8-1/2 and the 6 fit me in the Dr. Martens.

I haven't owned a pair of Doc Martens since the 90s, but back then I lived in them, and so did many of my friends. We used to joke about the inevitable "week of pain" that comes with a new pair. I think I had three or four pairs over the course of the decade, and they were all painful for the first few wears until they were broken in, but after that they were very, very comfortable. And classic, in my book. That silver pair you have there are fabulous. I really like the higher shaft -- they remind me of combat boots. Funky combat boots! But you'll still be in for a week of pain. Be prepared.

I'm a UK 6.5, I found the 6 too small so went for the 7. They are a little too large so I have an insole in them. I mostly wear them when it's cold so the extra room allows for thick socks and plenty of wiggling room. Due to being 1/2 size too big I had no trouble breaking mine in x
