Hi friends,

One of the items on my fall shopping list is a 'neutral cross-body purse'. I sort of know what I need in terms of functionality and style; it needs to be polished-casual, big enough to hold my wallet, keys, and sunglasses, but small enough to not look like a tote (my le Pliage tote is still going strong five years later, but I would like something a little smaller and slightly dressier to grab when going out for lunch, etc.)

What I'm not sure about is color:

  • I have a plum crossbody and a red crossbody, so I definitely need a neutral
  • I have a lot of navy in my wardrobe
  • My fall and winter coats are primarily navy; I have one charcoal wool coat and a stone raincoat with black trim
  • My rain boots (frequently worn in fall) are black, I also have taupe booties, black flats, and am planning to get some chocolate brown tall boots
  • So - what color? Taupe to match the booties? Chocolate to match the boots? Black to match the rainy day stuff and flats? Navy to match the clothes? I know things don't have to match perfectly, but I do prefer a bit of a match with these items to polish my casual outfits off.
  • I feel a bit all over the place with this stuff; although I love navy for clothing, it's not my thing in leather goods such as shoes, so I feel like I need to pick one neutral here and focus on that going forward for things like belts, shoes, purses, so that I'm not buying tons of stuff and/or all over the place. Or maybe I need two neutrals?
  • Help!?!?
Also, suggestions of spots to look for decent purses that will not cost hundreds would be appreciate. Under $100 is the goal for this purchase. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
