Help me style tunic & leggings outfits

I have two tunics winging their way to me from Boden...I am searching high and low for navy leggings and I'm also trying to figure out the rest of this outfit so that if the tunics fit me, I can start wearing the outfits as soon as the weather turns cooler.

Right now I own only one pair of ballet flats - Born 'lovely' in mustard yellow. I'm considering these sportyish ballet flats in navy (too matchy-boring)? The yellow doesn't work, does it? The Born shoes are leather, anyway, and I'd like something a touch tougher for playgrounds. Thoughts?

Also, I think I have some necklaces that will work with the navy tunic...but I'm stumped for jewelery for the purple tunic as it has such a high neck...

Thanks! I'm excited about this new look - I've never tried leggings before, or tunics...heh.

I own the yellow Lovely flats. I think that they would look great with the blue/peacock tunic....I am not sure about the purple/mod one though with the yellow. I do like the other flats that you showed. I like purple and navy together quite a lot.

As for accessories, the purple tunic would look great with one long ( 36 " + ) necklace. Kate Moss does that look all the time and I love it ! FOr the blue one, I love the idea of big hoops and a man style watch. And of course a fun bag !!!

I think that there prints are so present that too much accessorizing wouldn't look good.

I also love the idea of a long vest over the tunics. AJ just did this and I LOVED it !

I think the yellow shoes are fantastic actually! For the purple tunic you could try maybe a long silver chain or go without a necklace alltogether and show off some dangly earrings or maybe a scarf. If you get black leggings you could wear a black scarf to balance out the black on bottom?

I think yellow flats will be perfect with the purple tunic but it is a bold look. I would wear them (actually I LOVE yellow scarf with my new deep purple coat :-))
For necklace for the purple tunic I would go for a long silver substantial chain style. I would not add any colored one as tunic is quite busy. For myself I would most probably skip the necklace and wear statement earrings instead. If you go with the scarf select a solid in one of the tunic colors (the safest!) but I would try yellow as well.
I am not sure about the look of these sporty flats with the leggings but I am also just starting to explore the leggings look How about knee-high boots?

@Sveta - you read my mind about the necklace...I rarely wear earrings any more, as it happens, in fact I'm not sure they're still pierced! Re: knee high boots - FOR SURE...all over that (well, let's say that will be a future cry for help!)...but in early fall, I want to sport these looks with flats of some kind - and if they are playground friendly, all the better.

puffenstuff - I will model the outfits with the yellow shoes first - and see what the general YLF reaction is...I thought they might actually work - I love them with my darkwash jeans and that's a similar break up of color (long line of navy blue, and then pop of yellow)...but I'm not sure - perhaps it's the fittedness of leggings that's throwing me off. I'm going to be on the lookout for long necklaces or scarves.

I totally agree that less is more when it comes to accessorizing these tunics, but if YLF has taught me anything - it's the final touches that can really make an outfit.

What would you guys suggest as a topper? Vests look adorable on AJ and San but they are not really my thing. Cropped denim jacket? Cognac leather moto?

Cropped denim jacket will definitely work. Leather moto will too but I am not sure about the cognac color. Try it on and take pictures for us to see. Colors are so interesting that a subtle tone difference in the same color can make or break the color combination. If I learned anything about color combinations that is 'try it - you may be surprised!"

Ha, right now...actually, I think I do have a cropped, faded denim jacket, so I'll toss that on when I'm modeling these tunics (assuming they fit in the first place!).

No cognac leather jacket yet - I am lusting after one in NAS, but I really need to spend my energy and $$ in getting the basics down before I get yet another "extra."

Stick to black leggings or jeggings. No need to find navy.

I was just going to say to get black leggings- much more versatile. I think the yellow shoes are fab with both of those.

Love the tunics MPJ, I think they will look stunning with black leggings but if you really want navy you will find them at American Apparel. I also think jeggings would look fab.

@Angie - sadly I returned both the BF jackets I bought - one for quality control reasons and the other because it just hung in my closet for months with a tag on it... I do own a cropped denim jacket similar to the one in the YLF store (similar light wash denim)...would you go darker wash or is a light wash okay?

Yellow flats look really fun and I agree with the others, they work very well with the black leggings.
