Help me style my new jacket for Easter Sunday

Hello all! I thrifted this navy silk Talbot's jacket last fall and getting ready for its first wear. (Needed some steaming first )

The extreme padded shoulders give me an 80s vibe. Should I belt it or no?

And what to wear on the bottom? In navy, I have a knife pleated midi skirt, a gathered skirt on a basque, and a swishy polka dot skirt with inset gores. In black, I have everything: column and swishy skirts from knee to midaxi length, pleated maxi, and some black and white print knee length skirts.

There's also my dressy kilt (navy green and white tartan) but that's had a lot of wear this winter already. And some white or navy&white cotton skirts, but it's too early in the season for those.

Options to garnish the top include brooch, scarf, visible underlayer at neckline. Footwear: I'm hoping the predicted rain/snow mix will allow for some sturdy but pretty shoes rather than boots; but I do have knee-highs.

Where I'm stumped though is what silhouette and proportions to go for.

I love this collarless, Chanel-style blazer more than a traditional blazer, always. And navy is such a great option for Easter. I wouldn't belt it because it is a pretty piece, but that is just me. I would pair it with a matching-color skirt and a light/bright scarf. Or the black and white sounds interesting, and then just harmonize it with a scarf that also has black or white. Brooches is also a great idea, particularly if seasonal.

Regardless of weather, the knee-high boots sounds fashionable to me, as long as they are nice.

Nice jacket! I wouldn't' belt it. I'd add a scarf a la Celine's recent stylings of their fab colour blocked pieces, or a real statement brooch (not both). I'd wear a wide leg pant and loafers but only because I don't own nor wear skirts. You do you

I prefer the unbelted version to show off the shape of the jacket more. When I see belted jackets, I prefer them much longer, for this style I prefer unbelted.

Pairing this jacket with a navy skirt for a column of navy outfit sounds lovely!

I agree with others, I prefer it without the belt. And I like the idea of a skirt with some swish/flounce/movement to contrast with the clean lines of the jacket.

I think any navy midi skirt whether column or flared may work. I kind of like the belted with a skirt idea as it should give a 1940s vibe.

Nice score! I would love to see it with the polka dot skirt and a scarf. I sympathize with the impulse to belt it but I think the pockets make that not work so well.

Thank you for all the votes of confidence in the unbelted jacket. When I bought it (wrinkled) I worried it looked too big and baggy but it seems to fit better now that it's been steamed.

I'm going to try it with the polka dot skirt for some swoosh. And the pleats, just to compare.

And I think I know which scarf I'll use. Lisa, thanks for sending me down the Celine rabbit hole. I may be back for advice on scarf draping techniques!

I like it much better unbelted. It’s a lovely shape. I would wear it with the navy midi skirt and refined (but robust enough) footwear and a brooch. I love brooches and they are apparently on trend!
The shoulders are not nearly so big as my vintage 1988 silk jacket!
