Help me select a hair cut :(

You all know I have a terrible time with my hair recently. I finally have found a hair dresser here who has good reviews and guess what she knows to cut curly hair and also agreed to squeeze me in within next 2 weeks...

Now all I need is a hair style... Can you fabbers suggest something that might suit me...
My only constraint is I would still need to tie up my hair at times for religious reasons... So I can't go very short...

Please help me

Do you have some ideas of what you'd like to try? Maybe if you post a few pictures of styles you like, we could evaluate them.

Ramya, to be perfectly honest, I have curly hair, and I find that there is only one style when it is long. I call it "long curly hair"

But seriously, if this is your first cut with this stylist, don't go for anything to drastic. Just ask her to give you long layers that work with your curls. Ask her for tips on enhancing the curl. You want the layers to be cut in sort of a U shape rather than a triangle as with most straight hair cuts. Something like this.

I think Liz gave great advice.

I'll add that if you Google "long curly hair" or "long wavy hair" in quotes and click on "images", you may be able to find a picture that resembles what you think would work with your hair and that you like. (A picture is worth a thousand words and all that...)

What Liz and ClaraT said Google a few images, that should give you an idea or two. Ideally, curly hair looks best when either really short (not relevant for you), or at medium length, IMO. My hair bounces back quite a bit after cutting, or gets more defined, so I never dare going too short.
